Any analogue clock that has stopped, shows the correct time twice a day. That means though that it is mainly wrong.
From memory, didn’t another group, possibly a Chinese consortium, pay down a non refundable deposit, supposedly £6 million, only for the Allams to move the goalposts?
Don’t think on this occasion they moved the goalposts. Think this was the potential sale the FA blocked.
I was thinking it was the other Chinese consortium at the time, but maybe it was them. Something to do with banging on more money & saying the holding company wasn’t in the initial deal.
Post what you want I never told any poster not to post on here and never will. Seven years this has been going on and there have been many false dawns, I will believe it is done when it is finally done and not before. Even when the Allams bid fond farewell in the programme a few years ago it wasn't enough for me to believe it and as it turned out I was right to do so. I will continue to live in my cave like the Japanese soldier not believing the war is over until it's over. The google thing has nothing to do with the sale of the club, it's a small joke from a while back when it was commented that this forum is a wealth of knowledge more useful and better than google.
Greive never showed proof of funds or paid a deposit though. It didn't get to the stage it did with the Yongges where the Allams had signed off the deal and cleared their desks only for the PL to reject the owners test. All with having no intent to sell apparently.
It isn't done, not yet. It's ongoing. That needs to be said. There's no case of "it's not happening" or "there never were any interested parties", I only keep people updated with what I'm told from within the club. If you don't want to believe it, that's entirely up to you. I haven't ever claimed it's signed and sealed, just that it's at more of an advanced stage than most of the others (except the ones that failed the PL owners test.)
Do you know whether the party is all Turkish consortium or a mix? Hopefully the EFL will sign it off (if it gets that far) as I am sure they want rid of them too.
Given the statement that they'd like to showcase Turkish talent on a world stage eventually. Then it seems like it will almost certainly be Turkish controlled.
At least Acun understands football which is something that the two in charge now severely lack to this day!
You'd also expect them to understand the media too, another thing thats severely lacking at the moment..
I hope it's Josef Altin. It'd be cool to have one of the Nights Watch in the directors box please log in to view this image
I had my apprehensions about Acun due to the reports in the media that he wanted to interfere in team selections and tactics at the Dutch club he was previously involved in. Turns out that was woefully misinterpreted and that in reality, he only wanted a controlling stake in the Dutch club so he could make executive decisions in the boardroom. I’m now hoping it happens, because unlike the Allams, Acun actually has an interest and passion for the sport beyond business interests. As a media mogul, I’d assume he also understands the importance of optics when it comes to dealing with local media and how a positive atmosphere can do more for a club than a silly name change.
This prospective owner(s), do they have the means to at least make us competitive or dare I say kick on? Apart from changing the manager (which is all it would likely take), are they going to be able to add to the squad etc. And look upwards? Allams are ****s and I would take the same situation (with them replaced), but how much is the situation likely to change? Even 'measured investment' would be great.
I don’t think Acun wants to buy a club for it to be a middling Championship team. Like all ambitious owners, he’ll want the prestige and financial reward of the PL ‘promised land’. Given there’s a consortium, I think it’s reasonable to say there will be investment. Not insane amounts, but far more than what the Allams have put in over the last few years.
