Couldn't disagree more.

The problem is when Liverpool and most football fans talk about history they talk about a select era. i.e the 80s, which was easily our worst decade in our history. If people want to talk about history then you have to go back to the beginning.

Before the First WW, Chelsea were by far the best supported team in the country, our attendances on average were around about 10,000 higher than Manchester City and Spurs, who were considered to have the 2nd and 3rd largest support at the time.

The Highest attendances for a league fixture are as follows:

83,260 Manchester United v Arsenal 17/01/1948 Division 1
82,905 Chelsea v Arsenal 12/10/1935 Division 1
79,491 Manchester City v Arsenal 23/02/1935 Division 1
78,299 Everton v Liverpool 18/09/1948 Division 1
77,696 Chelsea v Blackpool 16/10/1948 Division 1
76,839 Everton v Preston North End 28/08/1954 Division 1
75, 952 Chelsea v Arsenal 09/10/1937 Division 1
75,322 Everton v Wolves 27/12/1954 Division 1
75,043 Chelsea v Wolves 09/04/1954 Division 1
74,918 Manchester City v Arsenal 10/04/1937 Division 1

As you can see 4 of those are Chelsea home fixtures, All of these came before we had ever won a trophy

In the 50s and 60s out attendance was still amongst the best in the country, despite a relegation in the 60s our attendance still rivalled that of Arsenal and Spurs.

In the mid 70s our HOME attendances dropped due to many reasons: financial turmoil, relegation, hooliganism etc. But is still acknowledged by the FA and Police that we had the 3rd largest following in the country in the 70s and 80s with only Liverpool and United drawing larger numbers for away games.

We took 15,000 to Brighton, 15,000 to Grimsby, 8,000 to Newcastle for a midweek game. 20,000 to Arsenal. Most QPR fans would admit even at LR our support regularly outnumbered theirs.

I totally accept and respect Man City for their loyal following and don't begrudge them success at all. But they are in a 2 team City. They compete with one another club (albeit probably the biggest) for fans, in a highly populated city. In London there are about 14.

Your constant need to compare QPR to Chelsea probably suggests an inferiority complex, I don't know.

Of course overseas fans etc will jump on the bandwagon, it has happened with all the big 4 clubs. The top 4 are shown the most so they will of course be the most supported. It is unlikely you would see a QPR game live more than 3 times a season if you were in America or the Carribbean. Popularity has always = More fans.

If you choose to listen to the anti-Chelsea media that is your choice, but the reality is bar brief spells, in our history we have always been well supported. We actually have the 5th best support of all time according to stats.

It is easy to draw in large crowds when there is no alternative i.e Newcastle, Sunderland and to a lesser extent United/City/Everton/Liverpool/Villa. Despite the fact QPR averaged 5,000 in the 60s and Fulham 5,000 in the 90s I would not begrudge either club their success because the real supporters will have earnt it and should not be punished just because of fans and gloryhunters <ok>

Derby Day Build Up: Why I Hate Chelsea

Q.P.R fans are taught from an early age a few things. Expect the worst, Les Ferdinand has been knighted by the Palace and above all others hate Chelsea. I must confess that until recent years I had no problem with ‘The Chels’ however now my blood boils more and more with easing passing victory they claim.

As a native of North London rather than West Chelsea fans weren’t presented to me at every opportunity. I was always far more annoyed with idiot Spurs and Arsenal fans proclaiming their side to be the greatest. In fact the Chelsea fans I knew were all rather civilized. I would even go as far to say that I found them enjoyable to watch when Gullit, Vialli, Di Matteo and Lebouf all graced the pitch at Stamford Bridge. No more though, no more. Now I hate Chelsea above all else, there is NO team I would rather see lose than that lot from down the road.

It isn’t to do with their money. Yes Chelsea are stinking rich and changed the face of football forever, but I don’t begrudge them that. We as Q.P.R fans are in The top flight because of an influx of cash ourselves. It’s more what they did with the money that annoyed me. They were an exciting team, Crespo, Duff and Robben tearing defenses apart at will during Mourinho’s early years. Then a change of heart. Drogba came in to batter all and sundry and Chelsea became a machine, a boring football machine who seemed to suck the joy out of football. They also started stockpiling players, the best example is Shawn Wright-Phillips who was purchased, it seemed, to stop Arsenal from acquiring the diminutive winger. Chelsea soon became a bloated football machine, smashing all before them. And so the hate grew.

But a team is just that, a team. And in their team Chelsea have some deplorable players. I am aware that as a Q.P.R fan writing this I don’t really have a leg to stand on when our captain is Joey Barton, but Chelsea just seem to have a collection of detestable players. Let’s start with the captain. I despise John Terry, not because he diddled with Wayne Bridge’s girlfriend (by far the biggest loser in that whole mess was Terry’s wife who took him back) but more the fact that during The World Cup he took it upon himself to lead the worst ever coup seen in football. I always think of John Terry as that friend you have to constantly apologize for. The one with no social graces who shines a spotlight on your new girlfriends biggest insecurities when you take her down the pub to meet your friends. Everyone in your group of friends kind of accepts him and just lets him be. John Terry seems to have carved out that role for himself nicely in the dressing room, a bit of twat but one that everyone just sort of accepts. Frank Lampard seems a nice enough guy, however he always appeared to be the luckiest player in the world. Deflected shots and penalties do not a a world class player make. Perhaps the reason I hate Lampard so much is that every time he steps up to take a penalty for Chelsea he scores, yet a World Cup Qaurter Final for England he strives to hit the ball as weakly as John terry’s defence that he is a good guy. Lampard has consistently performed for Chelsea, yet never for England and it annoys me no end. Didier Drogba is another player I cannot stand. I would like to take this moment to applaud the Ivorian for his off the field work. He stopped a civil war in his home nation and is constantly working for a better tomorrow for Ivory Coast, the reality is that he is one of a few footballers who qualifies for a Nobel Peace Prize. On the field though he is a joke. Falling over at every opportunity, complaining to referees and then inevitably smashing in a thirty yard screamer to win a game in the last minute. Chelsea fans rightly love him, others cannot stand him. And there’s Ashley Cole…. enough said. There is a new breed of Chelsea players coming through who are actually sort of likable. Sturridge, Mata, McEchrean and David Luiz are all great to watch and the manager is all sorts of sexy. Perhaps there is hope for them yet.

Finally the fans. Oh the fans. Chelsea fans can be crudely split into two groups, those that were there before the money and those that weren’t. Perhaps I am in a minority but I prefer the new fans. Most teams glory hunter fan contingent are something not to be proud of, an albatross around the neck of the history of your club, not so for Chelsea. This is mostly due to the fact that their old fans have a penchant for scummy behavior. By scummy behavior I mean fighting people because of the football team they support. Chelsea are up there with Millwall, West Ham and Leeds in the category of ‘This game should be a bit tasty’ and really there is no place for them in football. I hate the other teams mentioned because violence in football is just so unnecessary. Inevitably there will be fighting around the ground on Sunday and our own contingent of moronic fans deserve to be lambasted for that, yet Chelsea just seem to bring it out of every group of fans in the country.

So there you have it. The most boring spending spree in sport, detestable players and scummy fans. What’s not to love eh? Of course the truth is that a large part of the hatred is jealousy. As Q.P.R sunk like a stone Chelsea rose like a Phoenix, and boy did it hurt. I’m sure the comments section of this piece will be littered with choice language from Chelsea fans, but hey, take it as a compliment that I hate your team. Sunday represents a chance for Q.P.R fans to partake in some spleen venting against the team they hate the most, each one has their own reason for hating Chelsea. Yes we will most likely lose, but I’m relishing it.

Derby torture awaits QPR

QPR, who haven’t won at home this season, are 17/2 to cause a shock in this weekend’s big west London derby with Chelsea 4/11 and the draw 15/4 with Victor Chandler.

Goals have been hard to come by for Rangers and Neil Warnock will be looking for more from his strikers. But Jay Bothroyd is 12/1 to open the scoring as is Jamie Mackie. It is very hard to look past a Chelsea win and the 10/11 half time/full time will have its supporters.

Chelsea’s Fernando Torres sits out the last game of his three-match ban and Daniel Sturridge, who missed the Genk demolition, is 4/1 favourite to net the opener and even-money to score at any time.

Didier Drogba didn’t impress against Everton last weekend, but is certain to be recalled against the R’s and is also priced at 4/1.

Chelsea are 3/1 for the Premier League with United 5/4 and leaders City at 2/1.

The Blues remain 10/1 for the Champions League and 21/10 to be the English side to progress furthest.

City, if they finish runners-up in their group, have every chance of being paired with Barcelona or Real Madrid in the last 16 so this is a virtual match for me (can’t have Arsenal) and the 21/10 looks a very fair price although Barcelona at 13/8 look in a different planet to the rest.

6/1 to score first on Sunday

If Fulham could hand-picktheir opposition after a difficult Europa League trip to Poland it would probably be Everton at Craven Cottage, such is the Toffees’ dreadful record there – and also that they are struggling for form, as shown by the fact that former Whites striker Louis Saha is yet to score for them this term.

Andrew Johnson scored a hat-trick in Fulham’s last home game and will be looking for more of the same against his former club.

Fulham are 7/5 with victorchandler.com and that looks too big and may not be still available at 1.30pm on Sunday.

Everton are 9/4 and the draw is 23/10 with Johnson 6/1 to score first and 11/8 at any time.

Fulham to win 2-0 at 9/1 looks fair as it is hard to see Everton scoring despite their late goal at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

I have not gone and infested the other teams board for the last week, whereas you have. I have no inferiority complex and if i did it would surely be about Manu Arse Liverpool spurs as they are the successful teams who play the best football. If its a fans thing then i would look at Newcastle or Leeds for that.

You keep bring up these games but i really find it hard to understand as you have said yourself that you have only been going since 95 and as we have only played you once at home since then (league) and i was at the game i cannot work out how you had more fans? Once again the arrogance of a 'jonny come success' shines through.

I think the thing with you is, you come across okay but have to refer to the internet to get your history. It's great to show figures of how many you took to some game years ago but you were not there so how do you know?

Like this, in 1987/88 i was in the loft the day that Chelsea fans say they took it?
Interesting as i was there and we beat you 3-1 and most of your fans left before the end. No chelsea in the loft and the ground was just QPR singing. You see DL i was actually there and don't need some 'Jonny' bigging up something that did not happen.

Before you try the be flash about Chelsea at least go to the games.

Still tickets available in R Block; five left.

Like I said if you want to sell out you need to Chelsea more tickets.

The best football is winning football surely? IMO Barcelona play the best football. I wasn't being arrogant. I have been told this by many QPR fans and Chelsea fans. My cousins are QPR and would vouch for me on this.

I don't need to look at the internet to know this. I am well read on football and my opinions are my own. I wasn't there but as I've said my whole area is Chelsea, next door neighbour was a Chelsea ST in the 60s, 70s and gave it up in the 80s due to family reasons.

I wasn't trying to be flash as you put it, I don't see the need to verbally abuse me by simply stating facts.

We all know you didn't go to Rangers then; just as you are incapable of going online to buy a ticket for the match on Sunday.

What stand are in you btw? I have supplied a stadium chart to save you some research time.

I havn't got anything against Chelsea personally BUT i do find the lack of knowledge from a lot of 'new' Chelsea fans in their history and their past players rather sad.
I mean a few years ago when Paul Furlong was paraded around the pitch he hardly merited a polite round of applause from many Chelsea fans in the ground whilst he was whole heartedly cheered and applauded by the majority if not all QPR fans.
Not a pop at Chelsea fans but just a sad fact of modern football.

Yes you can. Despite the front ticketing page saying sell out, there are still singles left in the Loft, SA rd, and five left in R Block: three in Z, one in Y, one in X.
