Not good news… that will be the reason that will be given in a few weeks time then and we’re back to square one!

It's not really that big of a deal, it's not the kind of hold up that will scupper anything, they'll meet in the middle.

Theres usually some kind of transition.

Think Pearson retained a small stake in the club for a few month after Duffen came in.

If they've paid the deposit then it's something that'll get sorted.

You are being rather unkind to a player who played for city in all 4 divisions . He always gave 100 % , scored some important goals and played in several positions .

He was a cracking squad player across 3 divisions. Limitations showed in the top flight but if every signing we made achieved what he did, then we wouldn't be as ****ed as now.

Assem has zero interest in retaining any form of representation at the club, don't worry about that.

No, but staged payments are often a good way of structuring 'goodwill' into a deal.

And I very much mean 'goodwill' in a business sense, not a colloquial one.

It's also a good way of not getting all your money. Is the Turkish consortium not as flush as hoped?

In a business sense, goodwill is more than just a handshake when exchanging contracts.

It tends to cover confidentialities, assurances that the seller does not immediately act against the commercial interest of the buyer and offers some security that there's comeback should there be any surprises in the handover.

You quite often see staged buyouts where a majority investor comes in for a period with a pre negotiated agreement on the remaining shares after a period of time as long as all is as it should be.

Usually though this would be part of a heads of terms when the deposit changes hands.

It was in fact Luke Flanagan who made that comment not Baz Cooper of the HDM. I’m not in the know as they say but my information is that’s not the case. Due diligence ongoing. Also said it was Ehab who was dealing again not the case it’s Assam.
Only time will tell if the deal goes through ok. I was once on a course we’re a message was passed from one to another and continued being passed around! In the end it was nonsense when the final person repeated it. As they say in Yorkshire.”Think on”

I've never heard of goodwill being built into a deal. Staged payments yes, goodwill no. The contract should trump everything.

You noted the 'inverted commas' didn't you?

It's more of an umbrella term but it covers various aspects which would absolutely be built into the contract.

Which is why it made me question whether preliminary contracts had indeed been signed.

Absolutely not, I just find it amusing how many have already counted their chickens despite all what has happened (or not) in the past 7 years.
