It really wouldn't change my opinion one jot about a player if he ‘outed’ himself.

Our favourite gay must be Alan Carr at the minute? Surely

You have hit it on the head. He has alway's been a happy kid but a couple of weeks ago we went to the launch of the new Mini with my friend, free cocktails and he gave us a lift so we could indulge and my friend said that he seemed very happy in his new skin as it were.

At the end of the day aslong as he's happy that's all that mater's.

I couldn't care less about a player's sexuality. Whether they are gay, straight or bisexual, is just they way they are.

I can sympathise with you regarding the bold text, but just because your son is gay it does not mean that he will not find someone to share his life and happiness with.

Your son is lucky to have such a close and supportive family<ok>

i couldn't give a monkey what people sexual preferences are. however super camp gays with the voice etc really get on my tits but not because they're gay but because they're ****ing annoying. they have to make a conscious choice to do the voice and be bitchy. at the end of the day if a straight bloke was going on like that it would get on my tits just as much.

    This thread sucks. Only kidding
    Each to their own.
I'm nearly 30 (next thur incase you want to get me a prezzie) and have a lass but I also have a couple of gay friends.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I think the days of homophobia have long gone with most people as it's very common
in todays society and is more widely excepted.
Back to your question - I would still Hold the player in the same regard whether he is gay or straight.
I wonder if other players would act differently tho. Pile on's after a goal ect.
Shower time afterwards would also be interesting.....

My mate came out a year ago. Still abit strange him talking about lads hes been with. But Ive known him since he was 4 and hes only had 1 gf in all them years so not suprising really. Hes not a limp wristed one who shouts HIYA when he sees someone in the Metro thank god

If a player came out wouldnt make a jot but i think hed get it from opposing fans.

I couldn't give two hoots if a player was gay or not, it's part and parcel with modern life.

These days it's not considered weird to be gay, just like it's not weird to have red hair or different coloured skin.

I'm glad we now live in a world where someone can express the true feelings and not feel oppressed (most of the time). <ok>

One of my best mates is gay and he is an absolute legend. Truth be told, I think my generation (20 somethings) tend to be more accommodating over these "issues." It would not bother me in the slightest if Cabaye, Jonas, Timmy K etc were gay. They play well on the pitch and conduct themselves in a decent manner then they get my support and respect.

It is nice that your family is close enough to accept your son and not have what happened to my mate who no longer has anything to do with his family due to how they are about it. Makes me angry but some peoples attitudes are just out of line. If your son is happy then that is the main thing

well theres no need for it. i know plenty gay lads that don't ponce about and speak with the camp voice. you'd never know they were gay to talk to them (apart from the fact they have way better fashion sense than me!) you have to choose to speak with that voice which just makes it more irritating.

I've got a vague theory that Alan Carr scouts all our good new players, he just knows that for reasons explained elsewhere he wouldn't be taken seriously so let's his dad get the credit...

Same mate, worked with a guy who was gay for a couple of weeks, went to the Scotland game with him and a couple other guys, few beers and the usual football banter etc. Then, when we got off the train coming home there was his boyfriend waiting to pick him up from the station. I was clueless!!
