" There's no room for racism anywhere, change it, report it "

Seems a simple and concise message from the PL and Kick it out.

There’s suffering for your cause and there’s risking grazing your knuckles on a dugout roof. Good to see the lad playing it safe when we have so many injuries.

Will give Jammy the benefit of the doubt on Roberts because I admit I have a real problem with him and he frustrates the hell out of me. In his defence again all the marks awarded from various pundits had Roberts down as a 7 so will take my blinkers off for a while as now other fans can decide between Gelhardt and Roberts. In my defence though Im with the vast majority on young Tyler :emoticon-0148-yes:

    Next point for discussion;

Joe Geldhart and has Bielsa been holding him back too long ?

In the summer I posted that but for injury Geldhart would have featured in the final 2 games of last season. Another injury at the start of this season hindered him again before he regained fitness and starting firing on all cylinders for the U 23's.

Last weekend after chomping at the bit for a few weeks Bielsa gave him his debut, only 15 mins and eased in gently to get used to the pace of PL football. Yesterday however Bielsa showed tremendous faith in young Joffy by making him the third and final substitution with 30 mins remaining. All the work Marcelo and his staff have put in behind the scenes meant he could now trust Geldhart in the white hot cauldren of Elland Road and know that the player would do himself justice.

The implication therefore that Bielsa has somehow hindered Geldhart's development is absolute nonsense. In fact he's had the closest of eyes on the young man ever since he signed and it's been a very considered and deliberate process to get him to where he is now. That process will now continue at a pace that is best for the player as Bielsa always puts the player first and gives them the best opportunity to be successful on the pitch.

Why do we have to decide between them Doc? Isn’t it ok to wish they both do well? With how they’re being used, they’re not even really competing for positions.

    Really?

In the BBC player ratings, Roberts comes last - and can't even muster a lowly 5!!! Bielsa delighted? Really?

And your deflection tactic doesn't work with me - he did indeed 'only' pass into touch twice, but that was because of two things:

    1. He normally found Wolves players instead!
    2. He found lots of space with many passes - unintended, & usually to our detriment.

This is a distillation of opinion of those sat in our area, with the vile bile removed. And I have to agree with it. Did he complete any passes at all?

I also note that the BBC ratings had Geldhardt score almost double that of Roberts. Think that's unfair on Joffy - he was better than that!

I always want all Leeds players to play well. I also accept there are various reasons why they don't manage to play at the top of their game all of the time, but FFS, I've been waiting for something resembling consistency in the basics from him for 3 years now!!! <doh>

The frustration you have is well founded as there is no doubt that Tyler has disappointed many times. It's not that he's ever been woeful, more that there's no goals or assists, zero end product if you like.

Perhaps and maybe Marcelo is way ahead of me here we'll see a new role for Tyler as a No 8. It's starting to make more sense for him to operate as a deeper midfielder and link player rather than a goalscorer which he clearly isn't. Think of him as an upgrade on Klich, more pace and skill, can operate in tight areas and perhaps, just perhaps, he might start to score a few if he can arrive in the box that little bit later.

Try loosening your sporran next time WJ.

You're obviously turning purple with Roberts rage and most likely frightening the youngsters in the family stand.

The problem with the BBC ratings though WJ is that it's voted for by the public, thus there will always be bias towards certain players scores given by fans.

IE, Sniffer would have downvoted Cooper's score, Norway would have lowered Dallas' score, yourself would have probably given Dan James a score of 1 to thus reduce his average rating for the game. Lots of people would have given Roberts a low rating, for reasons other than for just being one of weaker members of the first team squad.

From a personal point of view, I would have rated Roberts higher than Harrison and Klich in yesterday's game, and probably just below James, so nothing to shout home about, but when it comes to assessing ratings about the team, I prefer to compare how I rate a players performance compared to the ratings given by an independent journalist than those that rely upon a popularity vote.

Ratings from Sky correspondent : Raphinha was their Man of the Match

    Leeds United: Meslier (6), Shackleton (5), Llorente (6), Cooper (6), Dallas (7), Struijk (6), Klich (6), Harrison (5), Raphinha (7), James (5), Rodrigo (7).

    Subs: Roberts (6), Gelhardt (7), Summerville (6).

    WhoScored.com https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1...eague-2021-2022-Leeds-Wolverhampton-Wanderers

Rodrigo was their Man of the Match with a rating of 8.4 - Harrison given lowest rating of 5.9, Roberts given same rating of 6.3 as Klich, and James

Just as an aside to the above, the Brentford Leicester game has just finished, I never watched the match, but went on the BBC website and decided that I would give all the Brentford players a rating of 10 and all the Leicester players a rating of 1, because the BBC allows me, someone totally uninformed about the match, to rate the performance of the players in that game ;) and there is still 15 minutes left to influence the ratings for both that game and the West Ham - Spurs game, so just deciding what rating to give the players in that game now ;)

Additional Edit - Decided to give everyone in the West Ham - Spurs game a rating of 1, except for Harry Kane, who I gave a 10 to, as I had decided that whoever had the lowest rating at the time of my vote would be given full marks, and all the other players would be given the lowest rating I could :)

Further Edit - Despite giving Kane a rating of 10, when the BBC was showing the average rating for him as 3.83, I note that his rating has reduced to 3.79, so his average rating has lowered despite my award of full marks for his performance :D

Yet another edit - Whilst Kane's rating has dropped to 3.75 now (despite my award of 10/10 for him in the game that I didn't watch) at least he has made a recovery and is now rated higher than Gil, Lo Celso and Bergwijn. No doubt on some Spurs forum there will be someone having a rant over how Kane has been rated higher than those 3 players ;)

Its now got to the stage where we’re back at school and lining up players with each captain getting a pick in turn. Poor old Roberts left on the sidelines billy no mates. Unfair i know but we’ve discovered he aint a striker Wales discovered that too. We know he aint a 10 (yet) so cannot see him putting a foot in and being an 8. The thing about our 8 and 10 is that they score goals and so farbthis season we have struggled drom Klich and Dallas and also left wing where we usually get 6+ goals from Harrison each season and the same drom Klich. Anyone think Roberts is ever going to weigh in. I really really hope he can but sick of waiting after 93 games

Well after a good sleep after a splendid day yesterday my summing up.
I thought the lads responded like we knew they would after Southampton and I felt really sorry for them at the break because they didn't deserve to be 1-0 down.
On the goal from what I saw Coops missed the header in a tussle. Harrison was caught out with the bouncing ball. Semmedo did well to get the ball in the box then it was one of them goals that nothing fell for us and all for them.
After that Wolves were prepared to sit on the backfoot and protect their lead and attack on the counter.
We huffed and puffed and every player out there ran themselves into the ground and the Fans knew it. I thought our support was fantastic yesterday everyone of them got behind the team. We just lacked that little bit of quality that was so badly needed.
Even though we gave all, There's still a few players not quite hitting the heights of what we have seen of them in the past.
Harrison was well marshalled by Kilman to be fair "who I thought was there best player." and rightly so subbed at HT.
Klich again tired badly which is becoming a regular thing you have to be super fit to play in this side. Still holds ability but he aint seeing out games these days.
Dan James tried up front which didn't work first half but I guess under the circumstances you have to try these things. ran his heart out 2nd half back on the flank but Wolves were really good defensively.

Strange game really but good game. neither Keeper had much to do, our defence wasn't really worked when there's was but it was done comfortably.
The crowd responded when Summerville and Joffy came on and both Lads can be proud. I honestly think when Summerville gets a few games under his belt and the nerves are gone we will see what he can do. we saw glimpses yesterday.
Joffy just took the volume up another notch and that 12th man was as good as the goal honestly.
he blazed a good power effort which the keeper did well, He danced around the box with quick feet which had me nearly over in the next row and he won us a peno. Job done lad!
Rapha was Rapha and is needed massively in this current side he has all our creative flair.
I thought everyone who started were solid 7's some 8's apart from the 3 mentioned above.
Don't want to go on about Roberts as plenty has been said but again another outing from him with nothing to write home about sadly.

I agree with alot of what you say but regarding Roberts as a midfielder I just find that he isn't the cleverest of players hence his poor decision making at times. That will come with experience but how long do we wait?

The remainder of this season would seem a fair amount of time but Tyler is still only 22.

Struijk another 22 year old played a new role yesterday and doesn't seem to have been given any credit for an accomplished display. Not many central defenders can play as a box to box midfielder and be completely comfortable doing so.

Excitng times as the team transitions <ok>

Lots of peeps including Bielsa gave Struijk a glowing report yesterday and exactly why Kalvin wasn't needed. Pascal has made the breakthrough just as Cresswell has along with Summerville and Gelhardt. No way will any if these players be loaned out like Poveda and Costa and Kiko and Davies etc. These 4 should now be recognised as the future of the first team. And by the way Jammy Roberts is 23 in a few weeks and ageing fast whilst we see premier league clubs fielding 16,17,18 and 19yo kids every week. Bielsa sees something in him but I am betting January sees him gone

I think I said the same back end of last season. Roberts needs to kick on this season as there are others coming through who will push him down the pecking order. His touch, vision, pace over 5 yards are pretty decent. His positioning, decision making is pretty average at best though. Some players take until their mid twenties to really kick on as it takes them longer for the penny to drop and I think Roberts could be a slow burner. It might be the case that he has to drop down a division in order to come back later after learning through 100 games or so. He doesn't seem to be getting better sitting on our bench.

Struijk is the opposite. I don't think I've seen him make the same mistake twice. I think he is a great centre half but lacks that burst of pace to really make it as a midfielder at this level regularly. He is a solid alternate though. If only he had more pace....
