Gillingham said no tickets would be posted for the Bolton game. Either pick up from Gillingham before lunchtime on Friday or at Bolton on Saturday at away end. Safer than the post.

Which totally misses the point. Especially if someone don't live in Kent!

Also before Friday lunchtime is no good to anyone if you make the decision on Friday afternoon or match day itself to go to a game. A decision which millions of football supporters have made for decades.

Two supporters on here wanted to go to the game, but gave up all hope. One other supporter on here, decided it was no longer worth the effort. Look around the forums, other supporters were going to go but also didn't go, because of the Bolton ticket policy for match day.

So someone is losing money, as a result, I didn't think that was something Bolton could afford to do, after their decline in recent years.....

I thought clubs would be willing to grab our money, especially after the losses of covid.

I'm not really interested if the post is safer or not, I should be able to pay at the gate or a ticket office on the day of the game and in cash if I so choose, this is the lower leagues, not sell-out Prem games. Was Bolton's ground even half filled?

Even the current government under Boris Johnson, promised that right of choice with cash would be protected.

You might welcome a cashless society and even Bolton Wanderers may welcome a cashless society but I don't. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2...re-how-cashless-society-harms-most-vulnerable

Also I'd be interested to know how secure are people's details on these databases, which should purely be for the sole purpose of selling you tickets, or marketing if you ticked whatever box opting for it, the only other reason would be if you break the law and the police request access to the data.

As a law-abiding citizen of a so called free society. It makes me suspicious this latest push for cashless and databases, and the need for me to leave a digital footprint on everything I do.

You know what, I'm getting too old for this crap!

brb, if I could give you a dozen likes for this I would. It says absolutely everything I would want to say, and better though out and detailed than I would have managed.

The guy who looks after my car advertises at the ground, and I could have called him for a ticket, but I wanted to be with fellow supporters. If this game comes around next year I might take up his offer.

    (repeat brb's last paragraph)
