Going round in circles a bit here, but let’s not forget the reason he was able too have a cracking season last year , by doing The seemingly Impossible the year before and getting relegated from a near impossible position to be relegated, it amazes me how easily that is brushed aside in crediting the magical title , it’s like a surgeon getting demoted too receptionist then winning receptionist of the year , yes it still deserves credit but I think any club will take that into account and the current situation and have too decide if he’s worth it

No, he won’t and I don’t blame him because this is the cushtiest job he’ll ever have in his life. But at some point he’ll have to decide whether the money is more important than the stress the job’s causing him and his family.

He'll do a job for someone in league 1.

I just hope and pray it isn't for us.

During 2nd half, KLP did one of his things where he cuts in from the left across the edge of the 18yd area, a bit Bowen-esque except on t'other side, find a bit of space, fire a curler into the top rh corner. Only it went same way as Magennis's penalty on Wednesday. Totally bereft of confidence and self-belief. Sad to see, he and one or two others are a lot better than that.

It just confirms what I've been trying to say, he's proven at L1 and Will easily get another shot at that level when he leaves us

Hopefully we will see, I don’t think any of the bigger boys will , maybe a lower mid table side .

You'll be surprised how desperate the bigger teams are to get back out that league! He's got a recent promotion and it wasn't even close at the end really.

If Sunderland don't go up this season, don't be surprised to see him there next season

That's part of the problem though. He doesn't learn. I too had hoped that he'd have taken time to learn from his last experience in this division, more than a year ago, .... but he hasn't. He keeps doing the same thing over and over again, expecting that miraculously it's somehow going to finally work, if we just work that bit harder, if we just 'grow up', if we just get a bit more luck, if, if, if.. It won't. He's clueless.
And imo there's no way on this earth that a L1 club with ambition, like a Sunderland, would take him. Maybe they would had he left say in summer, but not now. They will have noted how clueless he is, and how beyond appalling his record now is.
There is no other club in the whole of the FL where he would have survived this long, other than 'the best run club' in the country. It now just beggars belief, and can only surely mean that we are literally on the verge of being taken over (thank god).

He's better make banning the media if they ask difficult questions a part of his contract then.

Mackems won't put up with that kind of bullshit, that's for sure.

His post-match comments tonight and after Peterborough are just bizarre. Talking about the ‘formula’ and system we play, it’s almost like he’s annoyed we beat Middlesbrough purely because we didn’t use his preferred ‘formula’. He’s constantly talking-up our glimpses of decent passing and possession as if they’re just as good as points on the board. Very strange man.

I get what your saying, but it depends who else is out there . Yeah they will look at his title win , but people talk don’t they, agents, ex- players , .. why do the Hull fans give him stick? Well he changed the formation once, they won so he changed it back out of spite , <laugh> … Henry winter will have done him no favours as a national journalist , calling him out as weak , and the constant defeats and own fans chanting at him must be grinding him down , deserved or not . If I was a league 1 chairman I’d mark him as worth talking too, but would rather keep eyes open for less damaged goods if available

Time will tell, as it always does, but currently Lewis-Potter is looking good at League One, not up to Championship.

Same for Honeyman, with a bit more evidence. Looks like a world beater in League One and a ball chaser in the higher League.

Wilks? Wiley winger in League one, easily contained in the Championship.

    Both Magennis and Eaves likewise.

    Not their fault of course.

That's why clubs have managers, to be on top of these situations.

I just want to correct a couple of points here, after reading my original post back on my computer as opposed to my phone, when I said that McCann won’t speak to any of the team I should have said ‘it wouldn’t surprise me if McCann wouldn’t speak to any of the sports team including James Hogarth’. I don’t have any information that confirms that. It was simply an opinion. To be fair, also when I mentioned sources, I have taught students that have gone to stations all over the country and have heard many stories of how they have learnt to deal with managers, players and club officials etc much of it positive and funny, some of it quite tough to hear. It wasn’t based on RH directly or indeed at all. I just feel sorry for the guys at RH, who I believe do a great job for all the clubs without fear or favour.

It's one thing having a limited squad to pick from.

It's another thing pig headedly sticking with the same old formula which clearly isn't working at this level and expecting a different outcome.

Just try something different. If a player is struggling for form then take them out of the firing line for a bit.

If you're regularly getting beat playing open football then park the ****ing bus and grind out a few draws to get a bit of confidence back FFS!

Just ****ing try something different and stop hanging the same lads out to dry week in week out.

Why is he resigning? That’s the only way he’s going anywhere.

That’s all we needed last time in this division , a handful of boring draws to stay up and he didn’t manage it , he hasn’t learnt a thing from that whole debacle and that’s the worst part …. Reminds me of my son who keeps headbutting the floor and looking surprised when it hurts , difference is he is 1 so has an excuse

agree, I wonder if he has lost the ability to actually see what is going on anymore. Sat up in the stand he’d clearly see 433 does not work , we are over run in midfield & have no idea how to attack & put balls into the opposition 18 yard box .At one point I saw KLP win the ball in midfield run up the left wing look up for a striker to cross to & there was no City player in the Luton box!!! He is the one meant to be in the box getting on the end of crosses not the one supplying them. Play 5 in midfield with a left winger & a right winger and KLP & Magennis up top. Both can head the ball & Magennis is strong enough to also hold the ball up & lay it off to KLP to bury it. FFS it’s not rocket science!!!!

He deserves a chance back in league 1 or below until he proves himself better.

Thing is, if you line up 433 you can adapt that to suit what's happening in the match.

Pull the wide lads back and push the AM on a bit and you get a rough 4411, or tweak the wide forwards back a bit to a 451 when you need to defend. You could play 2 sitters in a 433 and protect the centrehalves a bit more....

The fact is he just doesn't do that. Its the same thing week in week out and when he does change personnel it's just like for like.

Plenty of sides play 433 successfully but you tweak it accordng to the occasion.

Grant just does the same thing week in, week out - we know there will be gaps in midfield exposing the defence to be susceptible on the break and we know the central striker will be isolated. Every time.

    It beggars belief.
