Got to praise the fighting qualities of our lads. only saw the second half but I am proud of them today, Geldhardt must start next week, the lad knows where the goal is.
Didn’t think James was terrible. Going 1-0 down to a counter attacking team means they’ll sit back all day which reduces his threat but Gelhardt did look good today. Needs to start up top next week with James and Summerville out on the wings assuming Raphinha is out. Phillips back in should help as well.
Great confidence boosting 2nd half. We completely dominated a team in great form with a couple of kids and our best two players (Rapha and Phillips) not on the pitch. I listened to the commentary on the Wolves website and they were hanging on all 2nd half. They were very complimentary about our pressure and the crowd always urging the team on and never getting on the teams back. 1-1 isn't the result we wanted but the response was very good after last week's ****e. Even though it was a draw it might just be enough to give us confidence moving forwards. Gelhardt surely must have leapfrogged Roberts after his contribution today. It sounds like Summerville is starting to find his feet at senior level after a very 'safe' few cameos. Future looks bright after today.
My bro is a Wolves fan, he just text to say Gelhardt destroyed us when he came on, oh and Saiss should have been sent off..
once again due to injuries a player gets a chance.the only way players like gelherdt and summerville will get a chance of starting for us.well mr bielsa lets see your next square peg lineup .
Also, how good was Cooper? Won absolutely everything in the first half. Marked Traore out of the game and made some outstanding tackles.
It’s called protecting young players. If we had it everyone’s way we’d have been playing Edmonson instead of Bamford in the Championship.
Gelhardt is a centre forward, he gets into positions that centre forwards should get into. Rodrigo is neither a centre forward, nor a natural goalscorer, but his hard work on the pitch and putting himself about is why he was bought to the club! Gelhardt should have started games as soon as we found out Bamford was injured. Square pegs in round roles doesn't work! Roberts did fine, but he's never going to make the difference to a scoreline. Why Gelhardt didn't start is bewildering, why Roberts came on at half time instead of Gelhardt hints at Bielsa being a liability!
I understand your frustration. However, it doesn’t really make sense to me. Rapha came in after a few games of last season and was initially benched. He made a couple of substitute appearances and forced his way in as he was better than someone else. Struijk came back after the first lockdown a beast. He was the best player in training and has now made 35 appearances in 18 months for us. The performances of Gelhardt, Summerville, Gotts, Stevens, Cresswell, Poveda, Greenwood PRIOR to todays game have been steady to say the least. All those players have been given first team action and its up to them to grab it like Rapha and Struijk did. None of them have until today when it sounds like Gelhardt could have snatched a couple on top of earning the penalty.
