Well done on joining the idiots brigade. Are you Zidane? Are you his agent?

Instead of trying to be mystic meg and telling us what Zidane might or might not do, how about actually talking about him as a potential candidate.

Who the fck are you anyway to say which manager does or doesn't want to come to United <doh>

@Chief it's clear what's going on here. We got 3 Ole fanboys who think if they can write off discussion on all other potential managers by claiming they won't come to United, they can then push the 'Ole In' mantra again.

Guaranteed they won't discuss the merits of any potential new manager whatsoever. Watch <ok>

The most baffling thing in all this ( well, one of many) is that Pochettino, who is currently working at PSG with Lionel Messi, Mbappe and Neymar in his team, and the aim of winning the champions league, is seen as more viable than the out of work Zidane.

Because, you know, they know and we don't!

    Do me a favour.

Where did I say he didn’t want to come to United? Are you being deliberately illiterate? I said clearly that believing that he will come for an long audition (as this is clearly what it is) is cloud cuckoo land. THAT Is to be tested for a few months and thanked and let go if he doesn’t come up to scratch.

you are free to believe that he will but few rational people would expect him to accept the set criteria for success (in itself a minefield: winning the title? Winning the CL? Coming second same as the current manager? Winning the FA cup?) if none of the above are the success criteria, then what the **** should they be?

Can I just point out the criteria for the current manager (when under same circumstances) was actually win a few games and beat PSG, not finishing second. He then got the job full time.

    The bar isn't exactly high.

Very high actually. 14 wins out of 19 matches. So a win rate of about 74%. Even higher in the premiership alone.

But he didn't finish second, which is what you initially said. Moving the goalposts somewhat.

Ergo, the criteria would not be to finish second. It would be to show clear signs of being able to make something of the squad.

The flip side is, as I've also previously mentioned, is it might not work out for Zidane.
He might hate Manchester, he might not get a grip of the lingo, he might just not like what he sees.

Who's to say a short term stint to the end of the season wouldn't actually suit him.

Not you, not Diego, not the other bloke.

    Because you don't know. <ok>

Exactly my sentiment on Zidane. I’m baffled on why anyone would ever think that he would sign a precondition contract as interim boss. That is beyond ridiculous! If he is not qualified to take on the roll full time from day zero, then fk it! Just leave Ole in charge and let him get on with it.

Also using Ole’s contract situation as a lesson is completely flawed because Ole simply didn’t have the experience required at the time. Not even he would move from Manchester United and now accept an interim position. He has managed one of the biggest of them all. Why on earth would he subject himself to begging for his next job? Let’s get real here.

We need to taper down our future expectations that anything is guaranteed regardless of who takes the job. I think that is the starting point for fans. Saying it may not work out with X or Y is always going to be the risk regardless of who comes in. We mitigate that risk by bringing in someone with tactical know how and a real vision when it comes to how the team plays in a defined way that is effective. That’s my first reason for calling for Ole to go. I don’t see the vision which is a shame.

The money being paid in annual salary to decent managers relative to the obscene sums being paid for and, weekly to, mediocre players is a comparative drop in te ocean. This club should be (and probably is truth be told) scouring the cream of the football world to scout for our next manager - whatever the cost. If we have to pay £20m to have top talent released from a contract and the same each year, so be it. The crux of the discussion is who would be better suited to managing one of the world's biggest clubs. I don't think we should restrict our search to those managers who are immediately available either, we should identify the man and pay what it takes. But round and round we go again - it always comes back to the same old question - what manager (in work/out of work) should we go for.

Spilling out names of "who should it be" is not a relevant exercise for fans. We have limited perspectives into the world of coaches and the deeper culture behind closed doors that the prospect needs to fit into. Therefore, it is the job of the club to find the right fit.

The Germans, for example, do an excellent job identifying the prerequisites in individuals that will make great managers/and players. Over and over again, they have done so very well. I'm certainly not obsessed with simply bringing in a manager because of their name. First characteristic has to be "vision" and secondly a very strong character. Take Klopp (pre-joining Liverpool) as an example, he always had the vision of what he expects even when things were not going well for him at Dortmund. It is that second quality of strong character that I personally think someone like Zidane has to deal with the egos. I wouldn't call someone in form of Mourinho a strong character because he cries way too much and it is always someone else' fault. We need a manager that will be fully accountable for all outcomes.

Most of what you've posted here is correct, but the only people deliberately trying to make it go round and round is you and the other two clowns.

There's a reason for this. You created another thread titled "If Not Ole Than Who?" The title says it all. Along with your deliberate attempts at trying to shut down any discussion around Zidane, it's obvious what you, Smithy and Diego are trying to do.

Whatever name is put forward, you'll give some excuse as to why they're not coming to United with the sole purpose of trying to prove there's no one better than Ole.

It's pathetic mate, from all 3 of you.

Your'e not very good at reading people are you.
I decided Ole was probably not up to the job about half way through last season but had a rethink when i saw the additions he made in the summer, this gave me hope he had a plan.
I suspect there are probably only a couple of managers we couldn't lure to the club with our size/status and the squad we have, Zidane would be a very good shout since he is already familiar with some of our high profile players but to offer him some kind of trial is absolutely laughable which has been the main point of my posts.
For the record i would be quite happy with Conte or Alegri but would be happy to have many other names in the frame, Poch is one i have small niggling doubts about that i can't reasonably explain. Just a feeling i suppose.
This doesn't change the fact i lay a lot of blame on the players, we have been lacking any real leaders on the pitch for a few years now, we have a few who wave their arms or shake their heads but i can't imagine a single one of them throwing ****s into people at half time when they need to buck up.

What's the problem on here with people have an open, frank discussion about who might/will be the next manager, particularly when you three slag him off at every opportunity. The purpose of the discussion, as fans, not members of the board, is to debate the merits or otherwise of potential replacements

OK then. IMO there are some managers that fit certain clubs and some that don't. I didn't used to think that mattered, and I backed Mourhino, but the football under him made me realise it does matter. Conte and Allegri give me the same vibe in terms of their style of football.

Poch on the other hand, the way Spurs were playing under him, the fact they broke into the Top 4 and he kept them there yeaar after year with an inferior squad to ours, and got them to a CL final, makes me think that he could achieve a lot more with the squad we have.

The other thing that gets overlooked with Poch - whether it was at Southampton or at Spurs, is the players he brings in and how well he gets them playing. I would love a manager who can spot talent, bring them in so they slot right in and get them playing exactly how he wants, and makes them great players. All we seem to do is buy players that have made a name for themselves elsewhere or those that turn out to be duds.

This last bit is a massive tick under Poch for me. In fact it's AS important as his ability to get us winning leagues and cup comps.

Like i say, i have no rational explanation for my doubts on Poch, i enjoyed watching both Southampton and Spurs under him, maybe it's because he let the Spurs squad get stale over his time there. I get what you mean about Conte and Alegri with their "cautious" style but they are actually good at it and get results which is what we need right now.

I'm not sure the players we currently have will respond well to it. They'll become even more inhibited.

The main reason being the defensive midfielders aren't good enough to deliver it. They will falter and that will reduce the confidence in other players around them. The rest of this season (if they came in now) would be a write off and we may end up collapsing and finishing out of the Top 4.

As I've said, Poch is the man for me. his worst enemy at Spurs was the chairman - had Poch had the funds to fill the gaps he needed to there, I have no doubt that he would have produced a PL and, possibly, a CL winning side. I think that given the talent in our squad he would be an excellent choice.

Conte and Allegri are to tempestuous, like Simeone, they are all toxic managers. ZZ, for me. is too untested, hence he is out of work.
