Only when I'm laughing at your stupidity ...

    ... hence the regularity.

    Aye there's the rub...

Its doubtful history will judge him kindly..

B'liar, screwed up badly in the Iraq war, killing lots of Arabs needlessly...

Bonko has presided over a pandemic in which thousands of UK people have died.

The full effect of Brexit has yet to be felt?

Brexit and Covid worry me and would no matter who was in power.

There will be food shortages and Covid will get worse.

I thought Brexit would affect us for a decade and Covid for a year ...

... I was way out in both cases tbh.

Some posters might want to ponder this.

"Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,

And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,

    I will be brief. "

I think its too early to say how history will judge Boris Johnson as PM. There have been plenty of Prime Ministers who have been heavily criticised during their tenure who have gone on to be fairly well respected later. In terms of Covid, the below report from the beginning of this month suggests that the UK hasn't been one of the worst performing or best performing in any of its responses to the Pandemic. So, on a global level, he's arguably not doing too badly. Its not until the virus is under control and we can look back on the whole thing, with all of the available data, that we'll be able to assess his time in power properly. Currently, we're too close to it to be objective.

I think this was the original title wasn't it ...

... the original was 'Sod this just let the bodies pile up, I'm off to Spain'.

The fact that places like Brazil have over half a million deaths doesn't really comfort me tbh.

What bothers me are phrases like 'world class' and 'best in Europe' when it's not the case.

Now people have become complacent and it's building up to another crisis at Christmas.

That's kind of what I mean though. We're not really that bothered how Brazil, or anywhere else, is getting on. Its irrelevant to us now but when the history books are written what happened here is inevitably going to be compared to other places because that's the only scale we'll have to compare it against, even if that doesn't really give a true impression of how the government performed.

    True mate.

What I'm saying is that disaster countries can make us look better than we are.

I can't understand how we have 1 in 55 infected while Scotland are on 1 in 90.

Sturgeon has been pilloried but they're doing better than us ...

... I'm baffled by it all tbh.

Do you really think that incompetence-Johnson will turn it around ? Genuine question.
I honestly have 0 faith in the man. I think as a Tory leader he does have some intentions to bring wealth to the wider nation. That’s me being generous. Posh Dave and Osborne didn’t and May was for the elderly. However, he is an incompetent buffoon (opinion) with discriminatory values (fact) and the wealth sharing thing is largely ideological and partly attention seeking not from some commitment to care.

are people honestly saying *this party* would have handled the pandemic better?

i doubt anyone could have made a better fist of it imho, most was guess work but i just cannot get rid of the thought that things could have been controlled so much better if they had only locked down at the source of the virus...far fewer to be treated without the virus able to 'mix' with others and mutate so rapidly, yet they flew people all around the world in and out of most of the busiest airports all before any real preventions were put in place then 'suddenly' we had a world wide problem.

as i keep saying, until we lose these career politicians with millions in the banks and stop them offering lucrative deals and contracts to family members/friends, as well as remove many of the perks they get (still waiting for someone to explain why they are allowed second homes which they basically do not have to pay for yet your average london city worker has to commute every day as even one home there would be too much for them)...they get well paid and should have to learn to live within their means the same as anyone else, many a time it looks like they get a well paid job simply by standing for election, usually paid for by someone else, with nothing to actually prove they are capable of doing the job with no expenses as it all gets paid for by others, they produce nothing of any use or to sell to help pay their way but take whatever they can.

as soon as anyone with any kind of 'real world values' stands they are shot down by the controlled media, we all need to stop listening to the crap they peddle and decide for ourselves...i honestly cannot remember a single person having a bad word about corbyn (for instance) until he started to look a little more popular, then the smear campaign began nd suddenly people were turning against him, things have to change if we are ever to get a government that will help the people.

Unfortunately, we will never have a government that will really be for the benefit of us, the real people :emoticon-0145-shake

We just have to accept whichever party is elected and hope that we, as individuals/families will be alright :emoticon-0148-yes:
