It's the same as almost all of this culture war stuff. One or two people complain about something or other somebody's said and the rabid 'anti-woke' brigade inflate it into some kind of existential threat. Don't rise to it, it's what they want.

This makes pretty depressing reading. It seems anyone who drives professionally to earn their living are made to jump through hoops and fleeced to obtain and maintain their licence. Lorry drivers certainly seem to have it the worst it seems.
I recently renewed my PCO Licence and had to endure some total incompetence from TFL requiring multiple copies of documents they'd already been sent, paying for medical and opticians fees plus proof of passing their English language criteria, which I had done 3 years ago. They are now introducing their own version of additional tests from next year, all for individual fees. My cost of renewal was almost £500 yet my employer has downgraded many fares paid to drivers leaving me considering packing it in at the end of this year as the cost of going to work is making the job unviable. I'm actually earning less per hour than when I originally started 8 years ago...
