Yeah its much easier. He looked like a man on the TV last night who just wants put out of his misery. In fairness to him we are crap. On paper we are crap. He has a thankless task. I just think even if we get a small bounce factor from bulleting him now, even with no replacement, its got to be better than ploughing on. Plus we just need someone to pick Schar and Fernandez - he refuses to drop Lascelles and Clark regardless of performance.
And Lewis. Those three in that backline were there for the majority of this abysmal 38 game run, conceding 68 goals. New manager comes in, Dubs gets back to full fitness, Fede in alongside Schar and results will improve. Midfield is still absolute clart, I've always maintained they're so **** you have to put 3 in there, even if it means picking Hayden - like I do with crap kids at u10 football, just give them very specific jobs. For Hayden, it's just hold that DM position and get it to one of the other two midfielders. Whoever they are - whether it's Longstaff, Willock, Almiron, I don't know, they all look **** under Bruce - doesn't matter. Then you have your front three of Max, Wilson and one other - again, we're not blessed whether it's Joe, Murphy, Fraser or Almiron. Part of the issue is I think Bruce has his formation, some kind of 5 at the back counter attack thing. But ultimately doesn't have the brain to do anything else. He can't create a tactic to suit what he's got; we need someone to be able to do that short term, whilst then looking mid-term into Jan to start at the back and build an identity. Interestingly I was reading a bit on Gerrard and he did exactly that at Rangers. Whilst his preference is 4-3-3, he likes modern full backs working like TAA and Robertson so getting into a 2-5-3 when attacking, dropping to a 4-5-1 in defending. So maybe he's the right guy to come in now? I'd be keeping my back four very rigid and not relying on attacking full backs at the moment when we're shipping goals and play with smarter CB's and a holding midfielder, so effectively 5-4-1 in defence, but 4-1-2-3 on the attack.
He shoehorns the same players in like an old pals act. Lascelles, Clarke, Ritchie, Joelinton and Shelvey. It makes no sense in the situation we are in. There has been improvements with Joelinton, but lets be honest that improvement has gone from really really really **** to just really really ****.
Is it any surprise that a ****ing try-hard carthorse of a player would favour those types of players above the technical types now he's a "manager"?
I will hold my hands up and say I thought Joelinton was a lost cause. However I don't think I could really knock his last 3 or 4 performances. He's been pretty good. His effort dwarfs many of his teammates. There has been quality too. I might be alone here, but I think he's been good of late Most of the good stuff is coming from him or ASM. Bruce just doesn't have it. There is no specific style to his management, he is literally reliant on players. We don't have the players so he'll take us down this year. Fair play I can't knock the job he's done for the last two seasons. Its time for a change urgently. Lets at least try to do something different. Bruce is like an ostrich with Lascelles and Clark, he's burying his head.
He's actually doing so ****e that it's made it harder to get on the right replacement.. He's been so ****e it's keeping his job
I'll never side with the man, but does he have a point? Every hour that ticks by isn't reflecting well on the new owners.
I believe he's got the club in such a ****e position they're struggling to get who they want. Essentially Steve Bruce has done **** enough to hang in there.
They probably needed last week to sort **** out, but they've had enough time now, and it's time axe the ****er. They witnessed yesterday's **** show in person, so now they can no excuse
Meh, it's just about staying up this season then building from there. This to me suggests getting someone in until the end of the season to keep us up, then trying for a big name after that.
Go down the gym and take your anger out on a punchbag, imagine you're punching Bruce in his misshapen nose.
Well obviously nothing happens that early. We're one managerial change away from 15th or above. We're a handful of players away from 10th. Let's not start throwing ourselves overboard on day 11 of new ownership. But Bruce cannot be here on day 12.
Our situation is similar to Man City in 2008 when their money came in, they were in the bottom 3 at Xmas. One thing's for sure, we're only down with Bruce.
I'm saying what I'm seeing mate.. Once you're in the bottom 3 its hard to get out, we've had easy games and not won once, we conceded more than any other side in the league and we're poor. If you look at the fixtures you'll see what I mean. We can all hold on to all the ifs and buts, however we're as good 4 points from safety already due to goal difference 2 results required who can we beat? If Leeds and Southampton get another next week we're ****ed It's really really poor that side
It's not the same because FFP is here now and the league is stronger from top to bottom. It's a similar situation though.
