That is what from VAR and offsides. A tight call, but one which you can determine with the naked eye. (I know they used the lines, because they have to. But they weren't needed.)
I hope this has a similar ending to the Eriksen collapse. The fact the fan has collapsed in the stadium rather than at home or out on the street has given him a better chance.
As you said. It happening inside the stadium gives the person the best chance of being OK. Fingers crossed
I have to say everyone reacted brilliantly. I admit when I saw Reguilon pointing into the crowd and talking to the referee I thought he had been racially abused but obviously the true nature of what happened became apparent very quickly. But huge credit to the fans around who drew the players attention and Regulion who brought it to the referee's attention and Dier who raced across the pitch to get the medical help.
For a very brief moment, I thought that this would be rare occasion where the fans singing "you're getting sacked in the morning" will be proved correct. But actually, I'm not sure he'll last until the morning.
I feel sorry to Steve Bruce. He has had nothing to work with and it was his dream appointment. I am not sure how he could have ever expeced to succeed. What I think will be interesting to see will be where Newcastle lie in the table when the tranfer window opens and will they be able to attract the necessary quality to buy them out of trouble ? For my money, they need to see what division they end up playing in next season before spending. Otherwise I can see all the money being squandered.
Back in the 2000's Newcastle had a terrible reputation for signing players whose abilities that had not fully appreciated. Players were signed on the back of videos and they ultimately proved not to be of the requisite standard. I believe they were known to be a "soft touch" for agents , You wiuld hope that they have learned their lessons yet I think the club has always been a bit of a basket case. For me, they are like Pompey but to a far grander scale.
