What odds will I get at the bookies for the likelihood that the worlds biggest twat Danny Murphy will say at some point on match of the day this season that "Salisu is just the player Liverpool need"?
Leeds today reminded me of us in the second half of the season, in that they just don't have the squad depth to cope with big player injuries.
I thought I was missing one. To be fair, all played decently today. I think we should have won by more but we never looked in trouble
Their squad is actually pretty ****, Raphinha and Phillips are too good for them but the rest are pretty much Championship players. They made a big mistake not trying to really strengthen in the summer
St Bendy I think Leeds' perfrormance this afternoon was woeful. We should really have put the game to bed before half time but, picking up your point, this is one of Bielsa's longest tenures as a club and you wonder whether he can bring anything new to the table with Leeds. I just have a feeling that this is going to be a repeat of the Sheffield Utd scenario a few seasons ago and that the new boys delight in the first season and then get sussed out oj the second. I agree that weekly performances like tha will do Leeds no favours whereas I think what Saint offered this afternoon is a platform to build on. In the corresponding fixtures last season, Saints has accummulated 2 points whereas this season tis had been increased to 4. The performance gainst Wolves was poor and I think this has clouded some support's perception of what has been a good season so far.
Some people on other sites getting arsey about bringing on Theo ahead of Tella. I totally got that substitution - we were trying to close out the game. Bringing on experience and know-how makes sense at that point.
Yeah, I mean it could have been any of the three really, but it being Theo was a sensible move in my eyes, or at the very least an understandable one.
Let's pretend the midfield duo play like this for the next two games. Does JWP get back in your team?
I was worried that we did not turn our first half dominance into goals. I knew that Bielsa would get them playing differently in the second half. In the end, they came at us a bit more which suited us perfectly and left us with more space. Pleased for everyone that we finally got the 3 points. Lets make that count over the next 4 league games.
I'm not so sure. Thought they worked in tandem so well today, and we were a lot more progressive through the midfield. I mean, he probably does, but it's not nailed on.
That was a totally fine sub, he didn’t really get on the ball but he was bolting at lightning speed toward their players and rushing them on the ball, that was enough for that point in the game. Some of our fans have an irrational dislike of Walcott, he is still a handy player although probably not worth a start at the moment. People are treating it like that time Long came on, which was an abomination of a sub tbh.
