Every time I've put talkSPORT on, Sky sports etc, even though it's a takeover of Newcastle, Sunderland are always brought into it. As for this "good for Sunderland", I personally can't see how Newcastle being taken over has anything to do with Sunderland or how it's good news for us. It's like saying Leicester winning the league has worked out class for Burton. Have layton Orient done well out of Arsenal, Chelsea success over the years? To add, Harry Kane sponsoring them is his personal choice. But you get what I mean.

Looks like he was right. That must be a real sickener for you. You seem to have a weird dislike of the bloke.

Not heard a single one agree with that personally. I think it’s completely irrelevant for Sunderland. It’s about as good for us as it is for Portsmouth or fleetwood.

There's posters on RTG have said that. A lot of our footballers usually choose to live in Newcastle. If the Saudi's do redevelop the area that will make it more appealing for players to come to the North East which has always been a problem for both clubs.

Ah I never go there. Never have. But I’m yet to find a single person, other than your good self, who think it’s good for SAFC.

    Investment in North East.

Please provide details, or even rumoured reports.

I've heard abot investment in Players, from the Press.
Just short of £200 mil has been mentioned, but this will be money being spent elsewhere, mostly in Europe.
Not going to help The North East much then.

Of course their players will want to be well paid, but thats hardly new.
And in any case the 'Wags' are likely to shop elsewhere.

Money may be spent on St James's.
That will generate some short term employment, liker it did when the Hall and Sheppard families reputedly spent up to £70mil (I don't believe that figure BTW), last time that was done.

Of course new training faccilities should be high on the agenda, but this is not going to mak THE NORTH EAST more prosperous.

So, apart from repeating what someone with no particular expertise might have said, please explain the 'If the Saudi's do redevelop the area that will make it more appealing for players to come to the North East', with details.
After all a previous owner built The Metro Centre, and that didn't help!!

Good post mate, it's all just sportswashing and people are being taken in by the media imo.

As you say there's only a handful of WAGS, at any club, and even if they only ever shopped in Newcastle it wouldn't make a great difference.

There seems to be an idea that a bunch of women buying shoes and handbags will rescue the NE economy.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

I can, more or less, understand the children who get taken in by the 'redevelope the Area's Economy', bit.
They just don't understand the statement they are making.
But when it comes from so called 'informed sources', I can not take it seriously.

To put that staement into context I assume they mean, at least to some extent, improving the area's infrastructure.
To give a couple of examples of costs, the Millenium Bridge over the tyne cost £22Mil.
A mile of Motorway costs about £30Mil to build.

And bearing in mind that this cash will come from AN INVESTMENT FUND, you should ask what's in it for them?

This is no more than Sportwashing.
    To pretend otherwise is delusional.
And who can ever imagine N/C's fans to be delusional?

Correct, people who invest want a return.

    Otherwise it's known as charity.

Unless, of course, someone tries to pull the wool over someone's eyes ...

.... and there are plenty of sheep out there.

“I’ve been lucky enough to watch him live a few times this season, and he’s been very good.

“Naturally, when you lose a player as impressive as him, it is a blow.

“But the good thing for Sunderland is they do have quite a lot of squad depth. I think it could be the case of one door closing and another opening.

“It’s a chance for someone else to take that position and make it their own.

“I do feel bad for the kid, he’s had a good start to life at the club and I wish him a speedy recovery.”

He's said absolutely nothing wrong here

This seems to be just having a go at him for the sake of it...
