Lucas Favre will bring a lot to the squad if we pick him up as manager. Favre's teams play a dynamic, quick and attacking-minded football where ball possession and change of tempo alternate. This attractive style of play has brought results in every club he has managed. Players like Allan Saint Maximin and Almiron will thrive under. Another example of his ability to develop youngsters into widely sought after, talented players is seen in Granit Xhaka, who initially struggled when he joined Gladbach but, under Favre's tutelage, eventually thrived, becoming one of the best central midfielders in Germany
100%…. the sense of excitement at always having a genuine chance … that we are capable of beating any other team we come up against (not that we ‘will’ beat them, but that we ‘can’ …. that we are not just making up the numbers - that disappeared under Ashley and became a number crunch each season - trying to pick out where the vital 40 points could come from; who is just a bit ****tier than we are - that has sucked the joy out of my marrow. that sense of wonder and possibility has returned even though we have the same team as last week! It’s like being injected with heroin I imagine! I am so ****ing excited about the next decade; I MUST make sure I stay alive just to see what happens!!
For me personally supporting Chelsea wasn't about success. I grew up in SW London/North Surrey where everyone supported Chelsea (including my mum and Godfather since the early 70s) - we finished 11th my first season. What was worse is throughout my early childhood we had to live through the success of Arsenal who dominated us in the league + the swathes of gloryhunting United fans you tend to find across the country who'd mock you for supporting your local team. Granted we had the 1997 and 2000 FA Cup wins which were unbelievable at the time but aside from that all I knew was near-misses and abject failure until Abramovich took over. The excitement of that first transfer window was unlike anything I've ever experienced as a fan, I feel differently to many in the sense that if any other fanbase can experience what I did then I'm happy for them (except Arsenal, Tottenham or West Ham). The bitterness, fear and envy from the media and rival fans will only mould the NUFC fanbase together. Personally, I would far rather see good and honest loyal fans like NUFC and MCFC have success than the swathes of gloryhunters across the country who abandon their local teams to follow LFC and MUFC. The North-West of England and London are going to have to get used to not having things their own way because Newcastle are here to stay and now have serious owners willing to maximise the potential of the club.
LFC were the worst culprits for that when Abramovich came to Chelsea. At least with Arsenal I could understand it as they were better than us in all facets of the game before Abramovich showed up.
For me it’s not histrionics but for most it’s hypocrisy combined with faux outrage. The likes of Amnesty International I can accept, understand but agree to disagree. For a lot of others it’s an exercise of double standards and hypocrisy and I have no time for those.
Seen him on the Scouse board. But don’t forget he’s banned from this thread. Even if it was him that banned himself.
He sounds like he talks a good game but he doesn't understand it. Mouthing off about how we cant increase our revenues etc. Well here's the thing. Our commercial department was zero. non existent. Mike wanted Fraser Group/Sports Direct/Lonsdale/ etc plastered all over the biggest billboard in the north east without paying a damn thing. wasn't interested in competitors advertising in any field he has an interest in. Add to that 35 million Saudi's with a new club to support and our revenues will sky rocket.
There are only 3 people on the planet who know what “the plan” is at the minute Me, the rest of the entire population and tobes do not, despite the fact an awful lot of people like to think they know it all
