Are Newcastle fans still acting small time by talking about things like 'Investment in the area'? Poor sods don't realise we all have clubs that have invested in the area and created jobs. It's only a big deal to those unemployment specialists You won't know this because I've never mentioned it. Why would I? Here's the Stadium Of Light which has the Aquatic centre built right next to it, along with the Beacon Of Light and a brand spanking Hilton Hotel. All of which has created loads of jobs within the local community and all done by our billionaire owners who never felt the need to mention it please log in to view this image Not forgetting the top rated Academy Of Light which has state of the art training facilities which develops top footballers that go on and play for England. please log in to view this image I'll pop back in about a decade and check to see if Newcastle are close to catching up by that point. #alwaysinourshadow
@Saff Honestly buddy most NUFC fans would agree with most of what you've said there - investment in our area is only a remarkable thing because of the sh!tshow we've had for 14 years. We had an owner who has syphoned off revenue from the club intentionally and systematically (ten of millions each year), who sold off land around the stadium halting future investment, etc. We've complained about this and are fully aware what other clubs were doing as standard (training facilities, youth facilities, merchandising, enterprise, etc) our owners had no interest in. We've been told for most of that time that we're really lucky and have nothing to complain about - I assume from the above post of yours you're agreeing we had a point right?
I'm just ripping the piss because the deluded have risen their heads again. 'Nobody realises what the Newcastle support is like' ---- Yeah it's good, not in the top 5 of the country but it's good. No need to go OTT 'Hundreds of thousands line the streets when we lose a cup final' --- Nope, never happened. You smashed up your own town centre which was as good as it got. Your support seem to think that being the richest club in the world will make you one of the best teams in the world (Yes, I've seen plenty of it) - What they fail to understand is once you get past the first few billion the rest is irrelevant. Can you outbid Man City and Chelsea for players? Nope. Can you outbid Man City and Chelsea for players wages? Nope. This will end in tears, as usual.
I see you have mentioned SUNDERLAND every day on the Newcastle board. We live in your head rent free. #StopTheObsession please log in to view this image
No lies we're the richest club in the world and two leagues ahead of Sunderland. Tbh I admire the fact that you're going to go out swinging over the next few years.
There is a manager who split the SAFC fanbase but for me he called it correctly. The board backing the players over him was the beginning of the protracted end for the club as it then was. If they'd backed him relegation may have still occurred but you'd have been in a better position to manage it I reckon. You had some players then who were proper bell-ends and happy to take their cheque with no concern of the future of the club or their place in it. The concern is that we're likely to get more of that type of player once we throw money around - honestly I reckon we'll not be looking to even compete with the likes of Chelsea or Man City but more aim to outpace the midtable sides finanacially (West Ham, Villa, etc.). We've lived within our means by some millions each year all despite our sponsorship revenue being given away for effectively free to Sports Direct and our merchandising revenues being run through Sports Direct rather than the club shops - just freeing up those combined finances would mean we were able to spend more like £50-60m per year on players (net NOT gross) and balance the books rather than the just under £10m we've spend for 14 years. For context that's (14x£40m) around half a billion pounds not spent in the time of Mike Ashley which comparable clubs have spent. All I'm looking for is to be run like other clubs, if we get more investment then great - arguably we've got quite a deficit to make up!
