They will and it'll take a bloody long time to achieve. I just think Newcastle are starting from a better 'popularity' position than both Man City and Chelsea were in.
I doubt the last bit, outside of the UK I doubt the awareness or affection for them is anything of note. Plus their new owners are a nation with one of the worst human rights records on the planet. Chelsea were already successful before Abramovich arrived & City’s owners announced their arrival by buying a world renowned player and then just kept buying them.
I agree with Tobes. Within the UK Geordies are well-liked, but outside? I doubt that many fans in the Far East and Africa that attach themselves to European teams have even heard of them, and if you mention Newcastle to an Aussie he'll probably think of the one in NSW.
I imagine outside of the UK, the only reason will have ever heard of Newcastle is the team that that old England striker Alan Shearer played for.
I don't think Chelsea or Man City had much following outside this country. Also, Chelsea were (and still are) ****s
Same for the other two. Some may have heard of Chelsea but they were less liked on these shores than the other two.
If they can work it, Newcastle have the potential to be much bigger than both Man City and Chelsea imo.
Bigger stadium. 1 club city so should in theory have bigger fan base. Just have to get the right set up at the top level and filter it’s way down. Got the cash to do it, just need the personnel and to build it slowly. Sounds like they’re investing in infrastructure so that’s the starting point. Just depends how patient they want to be with it.
What about GOAL I'm sure that movie really put newcastle as an area in a good light. plus geordie shore. Maybe Australians say newcastle? Oh you mean where those little weird widgets that do the jungle show come from... mate.
Plus, they generally likeable to begin with. No one liked Chelsea. Some liked Man City but only because they are Man Utd's local rivals.
There was more than one although the sequels may not have been about Newcastle (I don't know) Isn't there a Newcastle in Australia too?
Theres no being patient when you have to deliver though. They need 11 players asap. The training facilities, ground, hotels, blah blah blah and over all club coaching structure will take 10 years to get near the conveyor belt chelsea have but you can get 11 players in very quick of you are happy to do it without any recourse to ffp. Not sure but I dont think the ffp punishment in the prem is really worth worrying about tbh. Go from 15 to 5th type of thing and then let uefa slap you on the wrist and move on.
Goal ii was in madrid with zidane and Beckham etc making cameos. The galacticos. So the first.movie must have been watched to attract that bunch of shots. I'm sure theres lots of newcastles round the globe.
Dunno mate. Everton have had higher revenues and spend a lot and failed. Newcastle just dont have the revenues land the wage increase as they sign players is going to be massive. How can they not at least bend the rules into a pretzel? Say they go buy kane. Thatd be that for their in the rules spending. However I expect them to go round the houses in europe this winter. I would have very low confidence in the advisors for the deal (the strutting hag) having any organisational skills to have people lining up proper deals already.
Ffs - I know you don't like to tire out your attention span by reading too far down but it was only 3 lines.
