If the only way that the SNP can get to power is waiting for old Unionists to die then she will have to stop old Nationalists from dying too. By the time the scales have flipped in favour of the SNP, Wee Jimmy McKrankie will be long gone and the poor options for her successor hardly augur well for the Nationalists, dependent upon the Party machine. She is certainly inferior to Alex Salmond, who actually had a majority in 2011, which she has only matched by joining up with the hard Left Greens.

It would effectively be a dictatorship with the SNP – who have already proven to be incapable of running most of Scotland’s institutions – only challenged by the protest vote Lib Dems as most of the Scottish Conservative vote will have died. They will desperately need to get back into the United States of France, where they will be insignificant with a population of five million plus as many immigrants as they can tempt. Border controls with their biggest market – the 50 million the other side of Hadrian’s Wall – should be amusing.
