This is such a dumb **** thing to say, you’re now party owned by an investment fund. That figure you’ve posted is the total value of the current assets of that fund, of which the £270m they’ve paid for their stake in your club is part. It’s not like you’ve got a bloke sat their on a £700BN wedge wondering what to do with it, and he might spunk the ****ing lot on a poxy football club.

So it’s a meaningless figure, yes they’ll likely invest some capital but as with all investments, they’ll be looking for a return. Also if you want to think about that £700BN it might give you an idea of the scale of their investments and where yours sits within it, in the grand scheme of things.

I personally would never buy a football club, why anyone would want to is beyond me, the majority of the time it is just aggravation, having a small investment in one might be a different matter.

Why would someone want to spend millions/billions of their money on a football club, something supporters rarely seem to ask, money laundering maybe, by that I don't even mean it in the true sense of the word. A protection of some of your assets maybe. That if the state were to suddenly to rob you blind, you have assets you could sell in another country.

Anyway, at least we know now that Newcastle fans are happy with the suppression of women, that human rights violations mean nothing to them, afterall what do you expect from a club where supporters go round punching horses.

There's definitely an issue there, but I'm just being honest my desire for nufc to do well eclipses everything.

There's plenty money from Saudi funding our universities and in businesses and nobody gives a ****.

We're going to be hated but what's new?

Did you see the lad from the Newcastle LGBT supporters club on Sky yesterday? Talk about being put in a spot, he ended up justifying supporting the Saudi involvement by suggesting that seeing Western togger might somehow bring about change in their view on LGBT issues back in Saudi lol.

I didn't mate.. I know its wrong but its just the way it is . Nobody really cares its all about winning.. All the excuses etc are dishonest.

I would say though that the fans crying in the main (not all) haven't paid a penny towards Amnesty International until they see another club getting big money.

Sheffield United were taken over by a Saudi Prince and nobody complained.

I don’t think you have to be a benefactor to Amnesty to qualify you to have an opinion on human rights tbh mate. That’s akin to those twats who say you can’t have a view on asylum seekers unless you have one in your spare bedroom.

The difference between the Sheff U takeover and this one, is that this was literally the State behind it.

But yeah you’re right, the average football fan will just look the other way as all they’re bothered about is winning.

No no of course not I didn't explain particularly well, but I just think many haven't uttered a word about it until nufc has been bought.

I don’t think they’ve bought a controlling stake in any of those businesses though. They’ve just invested a chunk of their cash into share purchases. Buying a controlling interest in a PL football club is always going to attract more attention than them just buying some shares in a hotel group, and the questions being raised about human rights etc were always going to hit the table. Doesn’t change anything but plenty will be uncomfortable with it.

I think that's getting a bit picky personally it's still Saudi money.

I'm pretty sure I'd be against this if it was another club.

It's not on what goes on over there, but it'll be put rules still here. They're investing in the women's team one part of the consortium is Jewish and we have a women as the face of the club which is good imo

Like I say I'm happy to admit I'm more bothered about Newcastle... Rightly wrongly.

They actually said they’d now received from the Saudis ‘legally bound assurances that Newcastle would not be controlled by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’. Then of course there was the complete coincidence of the beIN issue being resolved.

Well firstly I don't hate Newcastle United Football club, and have never hated them, all my life I've always looked at them as second best, whenever they get to a major trophy, which hasn't been for a long while now.

In fact my greatest memory of Newcastle was from many decades ago, when Liverpool tanked you 3-0 in an FA Cup final (1974), it was very embarrassing. The wee curly kid for them bagged a brace. I don't think the Toon have done anything since.

You had two decent players back then, one was Malcolm McDonald who was famous for banging five for England against Cyprus (I think) and the other was Alan Kennedy, the latter never won nowt with you, but guess what, you gave him to Liverpool and he went on to play for one of the greatest teams that ever existed.

See what I mean always second best in everything. Fate won't change, this is all going to go tits up and I'll see you in L1 within the next decade, if my club is still around then.

We've lost a few finals since then tbh lol

I'm delighted it's good for the city.. We don't get the arms money like London has for decades.

It's just football mate there's blood money in it everywhere already.
