We own the line, from now on the line goes where we ****ing say it goes (if mackems are reading this please recognise the self deprecation and relief that flows through such comments) (if mackems read that, just use googke)
Who the **** would pay £140m for an immobile (scuse the pun) and ageing CF, and a Man U sub? Jesus, we're going to get bombarded with this ****ing idiocy now.
I’m getting good at this prediction **** like takeover done by Chelsea, Hendricks scoring last weekend, immobile as first signing. Is there a smug imoji ???
The club really needs to buy the land in front of the Gallowgate at Strawberry Lane AS WELL as the Arena site and ancillary land between Skinnerburn and Scotswood Road. Both parcels of land were due to be developed in 2021 and have stalled - thankfully, because the renders for these projects were extremely underwhelming and would have all but shut the door on future NUFC development in the city centre. I think we all agree NUFC must be located in the city centre (say within 1km of Central Station). People should forget about expanding the ground into Leazes Park or Castle Leazes; it isn't going to happen and, in my opinion, nor should it. The two options for stadium expansion are: 1. A general overhaul of St.James's Park with an expanded Gallowgate stand. Capacity could exceed 60,000. Moving the ground 180 degrees could deliver 70,000. 2. A new stadium on the Arena site. State-of-the-art with a capacity of 80,000, which I believe is the ideal number. With adjacent (cheap but possibly contaminated) land, there is enormous scope for a huge stadium and training complex. Such a scheme would have a hugely positive impact on this south-west corner of the city centre.
