That the government will only release a highly redacted copy of the minutes of the meeting between the FO & FA tells me that's exactly what happened.
It's as bent as **** and you know it but hey, your new owners make our seedy porno barons seem the paragons of respectability.
People forget City started with Shinawatra and that was a turbulent time for them. I think the Saudi's and Stavely will follow very closely the Abu Dhabi Grp model.
Mate, clubs like West Ham who have become very good sides and playing solid football will be under the greatest threat in the immediate future. Depending on how quickly you get your act together, this aint good news for them. It's pulling the carpet from under them. I won't lie, what West Ham, to a certain extent Wolves, and even Everton were doing was making the league better.
It is but Chelsea did that to us tbf.. Its the way it goes.. I think they'll get something, but whether the owners will have 700 billion I doubt
I think that was Ashley tbf. Weren't you still competing in Europe until then? I could be wrong. Overall though, Newcastle being added as another competitive club in the top half is fine by me.
Were the Newcastle fans pro Ashley at first as he made loads of promises? not that I remeber to be fair, just to stir it up.
He’s over egged it there with the £1BN, but the basis of his point is right, albeit he ignored the annual wages increase when talking about the impact on the annual accounts. That’d be a barmy strategy though as you’d be gambling the lot on one window and the players you could realistically get as a ‘project’. He makes football club ownership sound easy at times, which is odd given he took Palace into administration.
He slipped up earlier and I had a go at him, but like the tortoise he is, shrunk back into his usual shell.
Newcastle had a bit of a Chelsea problem, well an identical problem. Success built on loans and a massive debt crisis. Ashley to be fair fixed that. But only a house slave would genuinely believe that Ashley was a decent owner and everyone was being unreasonable. By that I mean the type of person who thanks his owner for being soft on the whip.
