Mate, clubs like West Ham who have become very good sides and playing solid football will be under the greatest threat in the immediate future. He’s over egged it there with the £1BN, but the basis of his point is right, albeit he ignored the annual wages increase when talking about the impact on the annual accounts. That’d be a barmy strategy though as you’d be gambling the lot on one window and the players you could realistically get as a ‘project’. He makes football club ownership sound easy at times, which is odd given he took Palace into administration.

Newcastle had a bit of a Chelsea problem, well an identical problem. Success built on loans and a massive debt crisis. Ashley to be fair fixed that. But only a house slave would genuinely believe that Ashley was a decent owner and everyone was being unreasonable. By that I mean the type of person who thanks his owner for being soft on the whip.
