Some were, but most weren't. Oscar from Chelsea was 26, for example.
Alex Teixeira turned down a move from Zenit to Liverpool to join Jiangsu Suning. He was also 26.
Carrasco was 25. Witsel was 27. Paulinho was 27.

The market's dead there now, but they chucked money around for a while and got some decent names.
I suspect that Newcastle will be going after a similar market in the next couple of windows.

 

No they’re not….given the choice. If they go shopping for players in the wrong pool they’re going to get burnt. Top players always have options and who’s picking Newcastle at the minute? The only reason a top player is going there as they are now, is for money and that they’ve got no better offers, which means by default that they’re either past their best or flawed.

They need to forget about ‘names’ and buy players who who are young and hungry or with a point to prove. As they progress they become more credible a choice, but the location is always going to be an issue for a player with choices.

Tbh I'm hearing the same from most toon fans.

I think after the last 14 years at the moment all you want is something to look forward to. Then after that who knows.

Yeah that's definitely the crack.. I do think a few people are so clueless they think they can actually start signing whoever they want.. There's also somewhere down the line going to be people complaining if we go backwards at times.
