    Lee Childs

16 books in a series with Jack Reacher as the central character.
they are seperate stories but i guess it makes sense to start at the beginning although until last few they aren,t interlinked.
    they are cheap on amazon

not life changing books but entertaining

I'm a fan of those too. The Repairman Jack novels are a good read as well although some of the recent ones have been a bit below par!

Shadows of the apt, it's a series by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I'm on book 7 (just released)

It's a fantasy, but not the usual goblins elves etc. It is completely original and an absolutely fantastic read.

Also recoment the Study trilogy by Maria V Snyder, followed by her Glass trilogy.

Can't stress enough that your better off reading them in order.

Also worth noting, after the first page or so of shadows of the apt I put it down and didn't touch it because I thoguht it was rubbish. I came back to it after I'd finished the Sharp series and I'm so glad I did! Best set of books I've read.

Personally, I think better than HP and LoTR by quite some distance, though probably wouldn't make as good a film :)

The Jack novels are really a continuation of the Adversary cycle anyway so you should enjoy. The early ones in particular are good.

The Keep is brilliant. The film got me into reading the book and from there all the rest. Really wish they would release the film on dvd it is number one on my "unreleased films that I really want" list!

The only time I have is spent reading the 1500 page Physical Chemistry by Atkins. Reading it is just like seeing a guy write a blackboard full of fancy equations...
