This is the type or signing would like us to make once in a while. It’s a bit of a gamble but it’s a gamble on a kid that’s got huge potential and is currently performing at CL and league level.

Get him before he goes to a European club and becomes a 60/70m player.

yeah, the instant he is in Leipzig its 50 mil to others and you know they will only pay 10mil or something for him due to the dodgy link.

IMO origi and minamino with respect to them are just not top 6 players and they are there to fill in.

Having a hot young player with jota as well and that's now something for 5 years time.

Lets see though.

Our team in 5 years is not unknown potentially now. Kelleher, trent, konate, gomez, tsimikas, fabinho is still youngish, jones, elliott, jota. its no that bad is it?

you have to read the above as a woman or something.

I've seen someone report an alleged offense and someone then say maybe we should buy him and then someone else have a jape about getting him cheap, quickly followed by another comment about prison. That might be read as the alleged sexual offense doesn't even matter.

Just think about it. its either snowflakery or its trying to see the other side. which is often insulted as being "woke"

It says "not buy him" <doh>

Tbf in your haste to 'deal with the sentiment' you summarised incorrectly what had been said. Correcting that mistake is arguably just as important as drawing attention to it in the first place :bandit:

more deflection.

clearly accurate quoting is more important than sexual misconduct round here :)

not one single person has actually addressed whether its actually right to make light of sexual misconduct, it doesn't look good for those women's rights issues round 'ere!

<laugh>

Hmmm...
I think it was meant as a joke, you know?
Poor taste, perhaps - but I don't think it's a genuine indicator of anyone's attitude to women's rights.

Just to be controversial, I might add that I dislike the term "women's rights", as all rights should be universal regardless of gender, race or any other distinction anyone tries to create to divide us as humans.

oh no next thing you'll say all lives matter or something <nahnah>

the point is that poor taste aside, joking about it trivialises whatever's gone on and so enables other behaviour. you can have the right attitude and still be an enabler apparently.

I'm still not sure what exactly i'm supposed to do next given the adverts and media frenzy should i witness anything etc. but thats another matter.

In the end its about this:

"Brighton & Hove Albion are aware that one of its players is assisting police with the investigation of an alleged offence. The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment at this time"

A Brighton & Hove Albion player arrested on suspicion of sexual assault has been released on conditional bail until November 3. The player, in his 20s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at a nightclub in Brighton on Wednesday morning. A man in his 40s was also arrested, and he too has been granted conditional bail.

A Sussex Police statement read: "A man in his 40s and a man in his 20s, both from Brighton, were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and have been released on conditional bail until November 3 while enquiries continue.

"The victim is receiving specialist support from officers."

Not deflection, reluctance.

We all decide for ourselves which parts of a comment we want to take on and which we don't. <whistle>

Riiiiight. And that's what's called enabling others :)

Say someone you know shouts an offensive term as whatever minority they see in the street and you say nothing. What is that?

Or if someone in the row you are in spits on a man city coach and you dont report it.

Of if you are a millwall or england fan who decides it's good to boo players kneeling cos apparently it's a radical communist thing or something

And so forth and so on. The challenge I am seeing to us is what do we do now? Do we go ah well that's their problem and nothing changes or do we say something as weve been told by all the various groups actually it's not ok if you want to be an ally of those groups.

Its now black history week at work and we get to listen to people telling stories about all this stuff so it does start you thinking.

Its not easy mate to know what to do tbh but I suppose nothing will change while we enable others to continue it all on even if we ourselves dont do the bad behaviour.

There's a difference between standing by and allowing nasty things to happen and not speaking up and commenting on a specific case - Bissouma - which is an allegation at present as far as I know. We shouldn't condemn someone unless and until they are convicted or the allegation is proved correct. I think the jokes have only been made because he was connected to us at one point. People often say 'we dodged a bullet with that one' when various stories come up about transfer targets, rarely do they address the issue connected with the dodged bullet.

In the general sense, of course sexual assault is wrong.

There was no issue to begin with, MITO is just being a bitch :bandit:

So, in your eyes, who is being "enabled" (daft term imo, though that's not your fault) - is it the abuser or the person that makes a joke about it?
Treating serious matters with inappropriate levity is a common cultural trope - I suppose it's down to the individual regarding what we decide is crossing the line, but it doesn't mean we approve of the said crime.

I guess enabled means random people who then commit some offense in future or now. "I feel i can get away with it cos i don't get corrected for other lesser things."

you are absolutely right about it being a common thing we do culturally, my serious question is knowing all we know now form listening to the stories being told do we think its still the right way to deal with things?

the way I've being trying to figure out what are we being asked to do here is to trying and see what different things are pushing buttons and what the next level of explanation is.

Like for example people were triggered by "yes all lives matter" I scotched my head on that one as well as it seems reasonable, lets all get behind this human rights thing and roll it all up but then it was seen as just as bad by those saying black lives matter as it says no you are not actually listening to us. you need to listen to what's happening and deal with this issue not roll them all in a convenient bundle.

Its all quite confusing like don't see difference = bad, now see difference and celebrate i = good. maybe.

there are a lot of women coming out and saying what's happened to them and all of that. They are saying by not confronting and drawing a line we are doing this enabling. it is all rather confusing at times and hard to see what exact practical thing to do

Someone suggested we should look to sign Bissouma the other day.

Reports then came out about Bissouma being charged. Biscan shared the reports BECAUSE of what had ALREADY been discussed.

Someone said maybe we shouldn't sign him then

Where the **** is the problem? <laugh>

There's a wider discussion to be had about freedom of speech and what subjects, if any, are or should be off limits for comedy.
Just to add, I don't want to take part in that discussion <laugh>
