They'll suddenly find a bunch of mysteriously Arabic sponsorships. Good luck to anyone who tries to investigate it...
It's good for Newcastle this, but everyone will hate us now. That's a price always happy to pay given so many already do anyway
LOL, we’ve done all that, like £12m a year for sponsoring the training ground & £30m up front to be the first in a non existent queue for the new stadium naming rights. Villa and another club have played up **** apparently, so we’ve had to toe the line this season.
Don't mind TV money being given to clubs, although the distribution needs to be equal. But the financial doping of Chelsea and then City skewed the whole landscape of the game. Everybody else is now trying to do the same just to keep up.
If it wasn't them it'd be someone else. Making the game global and one full of millionaires was always going to attract outside investment. Plus, owners have always invested in clubs, it's not like they were the first. Just that the crazy money era paved the way for a new level of it. I've never understood why people get so upset by it tbh. Yeah I don't give City much credit for winning trophies after spending a billion but I certainly believe they have the right to do so. What other industry are owners of businesses not allowed to invest in it? I notice it's mainly the 'istoree clubs that cry about not being able to keep up. They were never arsed that 90% of clubs couldn't keep up with them.
Aye, assuming this now actually happens, you’d have to be hard hearted to not be pleased for the fella, given how at one point he was making over 1,000 posts a week about it. It’s taken it’s toll on him at times as he was so mentally invested in it. So enjoy your #cans Captain
This is what I enjoy about it with clubs like City and Newcastle breaking through. The clubs who have always been big have fallen away even further and it stings their fans like ****.
The people who cry that it's anti competive don't like to talk about how without external investment only 3 clubs would have won the PL since its inception. Notice how they never cry about Wolves/Leicester/Villa? Seems like owner investment is sound until you do better than an Arsenal or Liverpool.
