Ahh ok. When you highlighted this... The truth was it was an absolutely disastrous strategy. I thought you were asking me if I was sure it was disastrous? Hence why I said about success re terrorism and both being failed. In answer to your question, of course they're brainwashed. But each was brainwashed for different reasons. One was nationalism, the other religion. In some cases you have nationalism with religion hence why I would include State terrorism and gave the example of helicopter gunships just blowing up **** and killing people. With regards to traits, I'd hazard a guess the ability to kill is in everyone. There's probably something in most of us, something that would push us to that extreme. But for most that trigger would have to be extremely high, something very personal. It would likely be an impulsive/reactionary act imo. But other than that, the vast majority will have some sense of moral compass, some social conscience, even intelligence enough to stop themselves for lesser things, which means that the threshold will be way higher than that of a terrorist?
I was referring to human psychology of being self distructive, ie kamikaze being one example. I don't believe you need to be brain washed to be self- destructive.
The ability to kill is within all of us when defending loved ones and close friends or in a combat zone where it is kill or be killed It is also in all of to sacrifice ourselves to save others when there is no other choice The combining of the two to kill indiscriminately is not naturally in any of us unless we are brain washed to believe it is for the greater good
I'm not sure. I think you have to have that belief and that is implanted somehow. Is that always brainwashing? I don't know. It could just be something you've acquired within your psyche without others deliberately trying to indoctrinate you. There are other forms of self-destruction where you don't necessarily harm anyone else. Suicide through depression for example. I don't know enough about this but it's not brainwashing. Edit: where you're setting out to kill yourself with the purpose of killing others e.g. kamakazee or terrorism that is brainwashing. But there are grey areas... e.g. Hungerford?
if you fed every post on this forum over the last 10 years into a computer to randomly churn out all the words into paragraphs you would probably end up with War and Peace
That's because of the YouTube Sucky posted. I really got into it. I won't watch another one. For everyone's sake
I think you give us too much credit there Duggie. More like the full collection of Thomas the Tank Engine.
I just took one look, stared for a few seconds, thought wtf....then thought fook to reading all that and scrolled past.
I wouldn't have thought serial killers are brainwashed... Some people just have that evil desire in them to kill. I believe that's just in some people. They're born like that. It's their fate/destiny.
I'm a good believer in fate. I believe more in fate than I do religion but fate as in a cycle of events - one event, is part of a never ending chain of events, to which there is no start or finish point.
Yeah, I'd go along with something similar to that. I believe there has to be an end point and that point will have already been decided. We just don't know when that comes, but it will
It's not decided by anybody. It's fate, it's just going to happen. Nobody has planned it, nobody is responsible or has control over it.
