For clarity yes there was a trick right in front of the City fans in the 2nd half that created a crossing chance for Pring I believe, completely wrong footed 2 defenders. I wasn't talking about the goal, never mentioned it unless that is now the criteria that a goal has to be scored after showing tricks to beat a defender. Also for clarity you said he HAS no tricks to beat defenders, which is untrue he does have lots of tricks (as displayed in the clip I posted) but none were displayed v Millwall but again he was in very good company on that night. Like most tricks some come off and some don't, we know that from ODowda, Palmer and Bakinson. I don't recall any tricks in Well's repertoire since joining us, but I suspect he does possess them.
I agree to a point, we were a bit lucky, but sometimes you make your own luck. We are hard to beat now which we weren’t before.
Or he's older now and has had 2 seasons to adjust to life in England and playing in the Championship. Just a thought!
When I've criticised Massengo over the last 2 seasons he, imo, deserved it. Weak in the tackle, but boy can he run. Tbf to Massengo he's 2 years older and bulked up. It may be coincidence but under Pearson's guidance he seems a more confident and different player.
I think it’s a bit of both, he’s bulked up, he’s older and more mature and experienced and Nige is a good man manager who seems to have given him even more confidence, the coaching seems to have improved too.
A few more than that to be fair. As RR and RP say if anyone can it's NP, and if they don't we know NP will walk them out the door, and so he should. Let's see how it goes, but for me, O'Dowda has never been the same since he was refused a move a couple of years ago (what a bad move that was in hindsight). Palmer and Wells often seem lazy and disinterested, I'm sure they are not, it's just their style, but it will prevent either from making it any further up the footballing ladder, similar to JET and Tomlin.
It’s GOT to be coincidental RP - otherwise you would have to give credit to LJ ( or MA) for finding a diamond - and that can’t happen at any cost. Must be random - if you cast your net wide enough etc etc……
He’s good jiffie, but not a miracle worker. Maybe Wells hasn’t had decent service, the other two I’d be surprised if they aren’t moved on as soon as is possible
Think he has respect from NP and HNM has respect for NP knowing what he did in the past elsewhere in his career. Either way Bristol City are benefiting from both-win win situation.
Personally don’t think KP and NW are NP type players. He likes hard workers-grafters-players that give there all for the team neither do that. Two of the highest paid players at Ashton Gate. NP will move them on in the future. The above are my opinions on what Wells and Palmer bring to the table.
And boy it was. My issue is more highlighted by Saturday and a guy who was not given a chance by 2 managers and was let go, OK it happens but he is in very good company with several others.
One plying his trade in basement league after been let go by the club who took in to league one. And the other plying his trade in league one. Not the best examples. ps Szmodics only played due to the gashead being banned.
I think it was only LJ who didn't play him, and then sold him wasn't it? A strange one that, Sammy had a cracking pre-season, then opening day v Leeds he was nowhere to be seen, and barely given a chance. All very stange.....
We will have to agree to disagree on your 2 examples, both pretty failed much at their original clubs post BCFC. He made only 4 appearances under LJ, who loaned him out 15 months later, Holden/Ashton obviously sanctioned the final transfer, bizarre but not unusual for us during this period.
