Whoa, I am not getting carried away, because this is Bristol City and disaster is never far away. But I can see very promising signs, there appears to be a squad unity that has been missing for about almost 3 years, I can at last see a midfield that although not the most creative at present can hold hold their own in a physical battle, I can at last see youngsters playing breaking through from our much vaunted academy, 2 quality young players added to the squad both looking good and a few older heads to look after those younger players and a hope that Joe Williams could be the missing link for creativity. And I can see a manager and assistant that the squad seem to want to play for and who don't give a toss about the reputation of any of those players, they are judged on today and not yesteryear and that is the way that it should be.
'I can see very promising signs........' ... Me too. However, go back just ONE GAME and we were: 'Awful', 'Two poor looking sides..', 'Martin offering nothing..', 'Bakinson giving the ball away yet again...', '**** me this is dire **** rubbish bollocks', 'The worst performance I have seen in a long long time, and against equally $hite opposition. Really terrible!' etc etc One swallow and all that. We allowed a poor struggling side to score twice against us and only nicked it at the end. On Wednesday we allowed another poor struggling side to take all 3 points off us. Don't get me wrong - a win is a win and I'm pleased with the 3 points, but I'm FAR from confident. We are still too inconsistent and better sides would have punished us. We've got some of the better sides coming up - THEN we'll see.
Well done city your team out battled us shows when you need battlers shame posh wasnt tho cant see you being in top 6 maybe bottom of top half
The Martin criticism is utter nonsense from people who seemingly know little or nothing about football, he wasn't good but was in good company that night, but we created nothing and that's not his fault. And it's strange that the deciding penalty came apparently resulted from an offside leading to the foul, not picked up by 'some' who picked up on an offside for our Fulham equaliser but hey ho. This season was always going to be about amass enough points to keep our championship status and anything else would be a bonus, keep the better younger players involved and hopefully add to the squad and ship out anybody who doesn't cut the mustard this season during the summer. The pluses are a competitive midfield, more shots, more shots on target and more likely to score, Atkinson, Scott and Tanner, the emergence of Massengo as now being a player that we so obviously miss when he is not available and the emergence of Pring. The minus's are too many individual mistakes and poor decision making in promising positions. And it's not one game it's 11 with 16 points.
Pretty sure everyone on here acknowledged that NP would be, and was a great appointment. Some on here even knew the squad wasn't as bad as others made it out to be, and that experience of NP is helping shape them I do love your up and down nature RedRobin, as we all know we are only a run of 4 or 5 consecutive defeats before your banner will be out again on the bridges of Bristol, and you'll be telling us this wouldn't have happened if we had got Chris Hughton 15 months ago
Sorry, did I miss some tricks, skills he pulled off to fool the Posh defenders? I saw a very typical Martin goal, one of only 2 types he typically scores. He used his strength to create some room and got his shot off. To me that is standard CF practice. For clarity, a trick is skills in my book are more like Salahs goal v Man City!
From what I've seen of the Posh highlights it was an even game. Don't ask to predict this league though, it's mad. I saw the Preston game, we were lucky. Saw the Luton game, we were lucky. Seems we rode our luck v QPR and Fulham. Sorry if you think differently but it's how I saw it. However, I see hope to stay in the Championship this season allowing Pearson to bring in more of 'his' players along the way (so far so good). Bentley, Tanner, Kalas, Atkinson, Baker and Pring I see as our best defenders. In midfield, James , Massengo and Williams look our best option there. Martin, Wells, Semenyo, Scott and Weiman I'd say we're average up top. ps I know that's 14, just saying imo they are our best players.
He writes these comments like only he knew he was a good manager. I’m just confused why he never commented Wednesday or Thursday
