It was disgusting the money we pump into the EFL you would think they would have supplied armbands for the deep end.i see they cleared the water away to their benift at half time.
It's only the constant mentions of us being a big club, from supporters of other clubs, that perpetuates this idea. But they just can't shut up about it. The most common slaver is 'Sunderland need to realise they have no divine right to be in the PL' ... ... from endless supporters, players and managers ffs
we have no 'divine right' to be anything other than what we are and right now that is a third division club, sometimes it is obvious that opposition managers are using every trick in the book to fire up their own team 'big sunderland are coming to play us, let's show them what this division is about/if you can beat them you can beat anyone in this league/any other comment you care to throw into the mix'...think it was portsmouth before us and there will be others after, we have been here before but they tend to forget that and concentrate on our years in the premier.
A league two match was abandoned yesterday at half time guess what though the away team were 2-0 up ! there's a surprise. fixed it is like yesterdays game i would have said to the players at half time we are not going back out lads, that is dangerous, had we been 3-0 up no doubt that match would have copped it.
Where in my post did I use the word conspiracy? Them wanting us to stay in this league increases their cash flow which is what I said, not too difficult to understand is it.?
No, I understand perfectly what you were saying. You were implying that decisions will go against us because it suits them for us to be in this division. That would be classed as a conspiracy so I used that word.
Tend to agree with this, mate. But like you've just said, ie in the pub afterwards, time and a place. Long way to go for the fans etc. As for my swapping shirts bit, can you remember back in the day whena player would get interviewed after the game with the oppositions shirt on, sometimes inside out?
Doesn't take a genius to work out that in weather conditions like yesterday, you can't play our normal passing game, and the only plan B is to miss out the midfield and launch it to the strikers, then look to feed off any balls in and around the box. We had Stewart and O'Brien on the field, we should have just stuck them up front and gone route 1, I'm sure that every one of the team would have known that was the way to go, yet we still tried ( abysmally) to play football. LJ wants his arse kicking for getting this so badly wrong, its basic common sense. We could have got at least a point there yesterday just by going back to basics, there's nowt wrong with 'winning ugly' if circumstances warrant it.
With you on the swapping shirts mind. Do it afterwards!! I just think “if that was my mates I’d do the same” so it doesn’t bother me. Understand why it dies others mind
I wasn't at the game, but from Friday afternoon my weather app was saying strong wind and heavy rain for the match. Several posters on here and RTG, noted this and discussed what tactics we should play. When I saw the team, I assumed long balls played from the back to O'Brien and Stewart. Ie account taken of conditions Apparently we tried to play our usual passing game... ?
Missed the game entirely yesterday as I was away for the weekend. By all accounts the team selection was iffy, the performance shocking and the pitch even worse. As soon as Portsmouth got a couple of goals ahead there was no way the game was getting called off. Sounds like Cowley has played a blinder in producing a cow patch that negated our passing game and Johnson has been done like a kipper. Hey ho. move on and win the next one
Let's hope Doyle, Gooch, McGeady and Neil all start our next game. We've missed Gooch's energy and the decision to play Wright ahead of Doyle was a joke
Im just hoping for a pitch where the ball doesn’t stop dead three yards after a pass. I honestly think had we been able to play our usual game we would have won. They dealt with the conditions much better, bypassing midfield and essentially playing the long ball. Unfortunately that coupled with a shocking defensive display knackered us. Was just one of those days.
Aye, it's a massive step up, mate! A lot of the players left due to the extra travel, initially, but most have rejoined now. It is a much higher standard. They really struggled to start with but have had a bit of a resurgence, recently. Survival will be a huge achievement. We got 90 fans in a recent midweek game, I was looking at some of the other teams in the league, one of them got 1800 a couple of weeks ago! I mean, that's quite a difference in income!
My nephew and his mum are going to this but in the home end What's it like down there They live in Maidstone will they have to keep quiet or will they be OK
Too late just got a text this morning saying they had bought them Will text his mam if they want to go to any more. Got him a Sunderland away shirt with his name on for his birthday so must have pestering his mam to go to a match Thanks anyway
