I honestly do - but it hinges on CAT been given green light later end of this week. I think there was a lot of realisation from PL side of things that bullying methods don't work in standard courts of law the other day. Adam Lewis QC is or was the Godfather of Sports Law. He isn't a competition QC. What the PL thought they could do on Wednesday would be along the same lines as Newcastle putting Tyson Fury up front in the starting X1 because he's the best in the world at boxing and thinking he would be the same at football. It is why Danny Jowell QC fought our corner with NDM sat observing. The body language of Adam Lewis QC and the waffling on of him showed how out his comfort zone he was. I think they thought they could rock up and have the case thrown out on the same day - when that didn't happen I reckon arses started dropping as reality hit that this may not be as easy as they assumed.
I hope your right but I personally can see it dragging on. The CAT gets the go ahead and will not happen till well after ARB. In the meantime we end up with Bruce till after Christmas and on current form we will be Erin serious trouble. I want to be wrong. I also wanted to be wrong about Bruce this season. I wasn’t.
I think that’s the point, which was even made by the PL, that arbitration will fix this issue. The CAT strong arming is there to force a positive outcome, which would suggest the consortium are still there. Given Ashley is seeking “over £10m” suggests he’s not after full compensation for the collapse of that deal, but for the difference he now has to accept. Again this suggest that the consortium are actually still there. Or, at the very worst, a second buyer is ready and waiting. It all points to offers being on the table with the Saudis still the preferred route and any other buyers told to wait for outcomes. I think he’s probably also got another trick up there whereby someone like Kenton, Pallotta or Beane may have offered around £250m so any rejection of PIF could see his move for CAT claim escalate to a significant sum of money. I loathe Ashley and all he stands for - and it’s for precisely these reasons that he’d be the LAST person I’d ever want to face in court.
I will believe it when I see it. Forgive me for being a bit sceptical of Ashley. He isn’t the most trustworthy is he.
Doesn't matter when the Arbitration is scheduled for to a certain degree.... What matters is how soon the clubs legal team starts to get disclosure. As soon as disclosure is given green light is when the club can get all the evidence it needs in relation to all sorts. Broadcast rights for MENA region and how it went down, ESL and what it knew and when, Job roles or offers in the newly formed ESL, Who the broadcaster and financier behind the ESL was, How much the government knew about the ESL, how many secret meetings took place or what communication was in the build up to this (Companies speaking to one another in a behind closed doors manner behind other competitors back for financial gain is anti-competitive and cartel behaviour), What kind of incentives to BeIN offer the executives of PL - Holidays, backhanders, gifts, property etc etc (this has been proven with regards World Cup Broadcasting rights.) All of these things can then be leaked very easily in public. This is why, in my view, PL will be crossing everything it can that it gets chucked out. Another part of me just thinks the PL have no intention of blocking it now. They've done their job, delayed it as long as possible - allowed the ESL clubs enough time to try and jump ship. They can just stand back and say "we tried".
I'm sure I speak on behalf of the board but your contribution on here has been great. You clearly know your onions and your input has been invaluable
Its just an opinion mate, I have knowledge of how business operates and a general idea of what would make sense in everyday life. I could be miles off though.
I do however suspect the following: EPL knew full well what was being proposed months and months before it broke. Richard Masters would have had a huge paying job offer in the ESL. I suspect the broadcaster would have been Amazon. PSG weren't involved due to owner now controlling UEFA I honestly think it broke as stupidly as it did due to something out of their control. Will even throw it out there and suspect Spurs are a driving force behind it. (It's reported news of the takeover broke in the first place due to Spurs approaching PIF for a takeover for a figure believed to be £3bn and were informed they were well down the road to buy us for a tenth of the price)
This is the market liquidity. There is not much liquidity on this market. Much more liquidity on the Liverpool game today. The £44 is what is available to back at 2.0. The £13 is what is available to lay at 2.02, you would do this if you are mad enough to think Newcastle are not going to get relegated. If you want to back more than £44 at evens for example £50 you would take the £44 available and then the remaining £6 would move to the lay side until it is matched. This would shorten the back price to 1.98.
The question that needs asked on this picture is "I would like to ask my Learned friend (**** owa there) Where was Richard Masters thumb moments before this picture was taken?"
What part you not getting? It's much easier to understand when you actually do it and see what happens.
You’re too late Chippy has already sent the “bank details pm”. I thought we’d stamped this out the last time??
