Morning all. Bright blue sky currently, but possibility of showers this afternoon. Being nice to Mme as it is our anniversary today. Flowers in the vase, card written, and mugs of tea made and delivered. It is a shame that she is not allowed a glass of her favourite rosé. Doctor refuses to change her pills to ones that allow a glass or two. I will tell her that I will drink her share as it will not give me a bad head. Have a good day one and all. <ok>

I now have a working link to the paperback edition of 'The Incoming Tide'. I'm not expecting anyone to buy it (self-publishing has got more expensive of late!) but anyone interested could take a look inside. The link is amazon.co.uk/dp/B09GZFG16L

Morning all. Sunny at the moment, but there has been overnight rain and more is expected this afternoon. Pleased to see that the number of new covid cases has continued to fall at a rapid pace here. The goal was to have less than 5,000 a day before restrictions were to slowly come off, and yesterdays number of 4,700 means that it has been reached. Despite this news it looks as though restrictions will stay in place a little longer, and I would be quite happy for the government to set a new lower target as it still seems that lifting them too soon can simply start it off again. Have a good day whatever you must do. <ok>

Morning all. Blue sky with lots of vapour trails across it. Aircraft are certainly on the move again. Just back from town where Mme had to visit the vampire for her routine quarterly blood test. Nothing to eat or drink beforehand, so a visit to the bar, now renamed Le Snack, for coffee and pastries afterwards. Tomorrow the postie will bring the results showing what the readings should look like, what they are now, and what they were three months ago. Then later this week a gossip with the doctor, who will also receive a copy, and a thorough check up that takes about half an hour. All round it is a good service, and the small amount we pay will not break the bank. Have a good day one and all. <ok>

Much better than you get in the UK these days... my 'annual review' last week turned out to be with the practice pharmacist who was more interested in my case than my pot luck any of 6 GPS

Morning all. More rain overnight and everywhere is very damp underfoot. Last year I had emptied all of my six 350 litre water butts by this time, but how different it has been this time round. I have only used one of them throughout the summer, so called, and that is full again now. Last winter I considered buying two more and linking them into the existing system, but as it turned out I wouldn't have needed them. Climate change? Have a good day whatever the weather. <ok>

Morning all. A clear but fresh feel to the start of the day, and no rain forecast. One can tell that autumn is fast approaching as the adverts for the loto have started to appear. I am told they are hugely popular with several hundred people turning up to see if they can win a prize. No cash prizes are allowed, they must be in goods, so if lucky you might win a voucher for a new fridge freezer or other electrical appliance. My friend Bernard tells me his wife could have bought her prizes several times over with what she spends, and he never wishes to see another boiled ham. Have a good day whatever you must do. <ok>

Morning all. Sunny spells with showers forecast for later. Big day for Mme as after two years she has found a hairdresser that she has confidence in and has gone off to have the pony tail removed. Her English hairdresser returned to England when her daughter, with two small children, started a course of chemotherapy, so understandably wanted to help out. At the wedding we went to last week, the brides mother had been to a local salon to good effect, so an appointment has been made, and Mme can stop swishing around like a pony trying to get rid of flies. I just wish I had enough left to start growing one. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

They’re a lot more discreet than they used to be. Personally, I’m going full-on ear trumpet when I inevitably head that way. And I’ll shout an indignant “WHHAAAATTT?” at people, even when I do hear them.

Morning all. It is dry at the moment, but windy, with rain forecast for later. Glad to see my local supermarket has refilled with Heinz baked beans. There is almost nothing that I crave for from England as there have always been good substitues, but I have never found anything else quite like them. Two weeks ago the shelf was empty of them, but yesterday fully stocked again. I have concluded that Brits have been buying them up to send in food parcels to the UK. I am surprised to read that turkeys are going to be imported by the UK from France. From what I see here they tend to be small, not much larger than a chicken, and as the demand is not great here, very expensive. I also think it strange that a leg of lamb from NZ can be half the price of one from a farm within a kilometre of here. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Wet and windy, quite depressing in fact. Went to get some bread from the machine and was almost blown off my feet. A reasonable looking Volvo has been parked up by it for more than a month now, and there is no sign that anyone is looking to have it collected. Seems strange that it is where it is, a long way from habitation, and no sign that the gendarmerie have shown interest in it. I expect it will go one day, but puzzled at the story behind it being there. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

That reminds me of a similar story. My parents owned a reasonably large property on the edge of a little town called Moffat in the Scottish borders - it comprised of a few acres of field on a hill with a small forest and a river running through it. A cousin, who had the sometimes annoying habit of pointing his movie camera at all and sundry, paid them a visit once and decided to walk around the property filming everything. Towards the other side of the forest from their house, he came across a tent pitched in their field - two rather angry angry guys, in his words foreigners of some sort, chased him away. When dad went to investigate the next day, they had gone but had left the tent, complete with all camping gear, and their backpacks with their clothes. He reported it to the police, who kept an eye on it for a few weeks before removing everything. We never did find out who they were, why they were there or why they disappeared leaving everything behind. I'm sure I still have the video cassette somewhere - but nothing to play it on.
