Indeed and we appear to be playing a bit better. However, I think the opposition is making us look better.
As I don’t go down these days, it keeps getting mentioned that McCarthy does not acknowledge fans attendance and support. A foolish move, highlighting his stubbornness, a trait in older people who are out of touch! Our Prime Minister and Clingy are similar in this! McCarthy out! Manager for sale.....Fug it, for free!
Listened to the game on CCFC TV. Mark Denham and John Dovovan were nearing orgasms every time City got anywhere near the Reading goal. Sadly in the end, it was that Three Dog Night song that prevailed.
Surely starting Bacuna as a left winger (and keeping him on for so long) and bringing on Collins are sackable offences alone?
In fairness to MM that was a lot better and we were unlucky to lose. There’s no point in sacking McCarthy unless they actually have a long term plan, and I suspect given the last 10 years, that there isn’t one. We’ll be back in the same situation within a year with a new manager if there isn’t a big change in philosophy at board level.
Yes the team gave it their all and I stayed to applaud the players BUT the lack of quality of crossing and finishing was so apparent. Reading were abject and should have been stuffed. Smithies might as well have played as an outfielder. Yes the ref was poor BUT if you’re a decent football team you should overcome that. Yes MM dumped his 5 at the back BUT that does not excuse him for playing Brown as a full back, or starting with Bacuna or taking off Bowen and bringing on Vaulks or taking off Ralls for Collins. MM has to be sacked. He should have gone after Blackburn. The problem is the club has nobody with any football know how which was proven by bringing in Harris and McCarthy. The board are clueless. They need to show some cojones and get rid now and commission a football expert to assist in a replacement - even though there’s no obvious candidates. However an obvious problem is the club does not have players with the technical abilities to play a progressive game. That is down to the board not understanding football and seeing MM get a bounce and then reacting impulsively by giving him a long contract. Completely naive and misconceived. His pre season transfer efforts were lamentable. Appalling. If he isn’t sacked then there is a serious problem with the board, no ambition - which is so obvious - and the club will just go backwards. They’re in a relegation battle for sure.
Couldn’t not really. Ian Walsh on Call Rob just summed it up. Cardiff board are clueless and don’t understand football. I have no confidence they know what to do - either sack him and have no idea who to replace him or keep him and cross their collective fingers it’ll improve.
I feel Choo has done a decent job at managing the club as a business. However, Dalman is supposedly the football man. Thats what needs replacing. We've been saying for at leadt 5 years that there is no football nous. Get a director of football in place of Dalman. Set a strategy and rebuild the club from the ground up. The 23s are providing some viable candidates. They talk about the youngster's pathway. However, there is a big disconnect between playing style between the 23s and the 1st team.
Bacuna was shocking. He took up any number of good positions but was then clueless with the ball. No pace either. Overall a much better team performance but Reading are no WBA, Bournemouth or Fulham. I don't recall Smithies making a save. Where will we be after the next 2 games? Obviously the changes helped but MM has no future with us. Time to go, in fact we'll over time.
Warnock gave that inadequate a 4 year contract!!!!! He is a nailed on certainty in a worst ever City X1.
Absolutely spot on and the last sentence is so critical. We can't carry on developing youngsters while at the same time continuing with a string of short term firefighters running the first team. It doesn't make any sense especially financially. We can't afford to buy the players to change the ethos and we shouldn't carry on panic buying. We need a vision with people that know how to achieve it.
