Let’s be honest, Chelsea deserved that. You can only sum us up as plucky, but they were far superior all game long. McCarthy kept the score line respectable. JWP was a silly boy for that challenge. ‘Twas a red for me too.
We've got away games to City and Chelsea out of the way, not to mention a home game to Utd and our annual defeat at Goodison, and yet we aren't in the bottom three. A team with no wins in the first seven should be bottom; we aren't even 18th thanks to how poor other sides are. That should be something to really cling onto. But I still can't get over that Wolves performance. And unless we put it right against Leeds/Burnley/Watford, I still won't be getting over it.
Leeds really is huge. I don't like the idea of goiing into a match with Burnley with a nervous and impatient fan base.
Leeds will beat us I think. Its the two after that which are must-win. I’m 100% in the Ralph in camp. I think he’s a brilliant manager, being handed zero tools. He makes some questionable decisions, and id love to see us with a 3 man midfield occasionally when we are defending a lead - I don’t think he’s as flexible as he could be. But I truly, honestly believe he is the best we can do right now. He is incomparable to Mark Hughes. He’s getting the best out of the players, unfortunately their best is only just PL level as we never spend any money.
I see what you're saying; we had the ball in their half for good periods of time in the second half, it's true, but still we weren't really creating many genuine opportunities. A few crosses and some deflected shots. Chelsea were able to slice through us at will even when they were in possession less. I'm not criticising the team or Ralph for this one. Think we did all we could. Chelsea are just too good.
I've no idea how he played today, but Firpo has looked like a bit of a disaster for them so far. So if we can get our right hand side working well (and with options including Tino, KWP and Stu, it is easily our strongest side), we could get success down there. I also wouldn't be surprised if Dan James isn't particularly interested in tracking back. But we'll probably go and stick Djenpo or Redmond out there.
But to be fair Chelsea should be able to do that against most teams in the Premier league with the squad they have
Pretty gutted about those last 15 TBH. We were the team on top and looking to win the game and then Prowsie gets sent off. It was one of those where I'd expect the on field decision to remain but can see why they gave it. Second half we were superb and after we scored the pen we were well on top and I was thinking a point minimum. Then it all went tits up and I'm ****ing soaked.
In the Jan to May period we had a lot of Injuries and relying on kids. In the first 7 games this season we have played Everton Man Utd Man City West Ham Chelsea and taken points from Man Utd and Man City and West Ham. I really can't see what you have to moan about I really don't.
Tbh I think that about some of the blokes sat behind me at St Mary's, and some of them have been going for years. I think it's just that most people are absolute idiots.
Agreed. We had two top-half-of-the-league level players coming into this season, ings and JWP. One didn’t want to stay and the other one was unlucky to be sent off today. It’s not Ralph’s fault. Most of our XI is barely PL level imo.
I really can, yeah. Anyone who thinks Ralph is a problem rather than an asset, wants their head read.
If I see anyone say he's tactically clueless and has no plan B again, I might not be responsible for my actions.
