See where I think all these clubs are wrong is in assuming the only way to make more money is through more elitism. They look at their own privileged lives and draw parallels thinking the rich should get richer and the rest of us should just be thankful. Look at Man City, who can’t give away tickets to fill their stadium - their fan base isn’t growing, it’s shrinking, their popularity not increasing because there’s no history or heritage. These idiot owners think that kids want elitism but in football it’s all about tradition, history, past glory. Kids follow teams for the most part based on birthplace or family. I know a kid at my sons school who in the past three years has had a Chelsea, Liverpool and Man U kit. Where there’s zero loyalty, what does it get you? Empty ****ing seats, that’s what. They’re all just barking up the wrong tree. They’re wringing every cent out of football and won’t care what’s left. At some point, an institution is going to go pop, then maybe someone will step in. You can’t create such unfair disadvantage and not expect repercussions. I hope the whole thing explodes, that lobbying happens against BeIn and that broadcasters across the world unite in significant reductions in spending on PL football. It’s desperately in need of a complete ****ing reset.
That institution that might go pop is the PL if they are not careful. Our club is the most untapped club in possibly Europe and that’s why PIF are interested. We actually really are a sleeping giant waiting to be woke up.
To be fair, Man City's attendances aren't that bad. The arguments their fans make is that it's just getting too expensive for the champions league games. Even then the poor numbers Pep talked up were still 38,000. This being the case if their desperate for arses on seats then make the tickets cheaper - unless of course its UEFA who have a stipulation on prices.
The PL is the worst thing to ever happen to football in this country. People are becoming bored of the sanitized product, the favourtism towards the big six and the corruption. Our league was the best because once upon a time it was the most competitive. We had the greatest cup competition on earth where a team of plumbers could beat the champions. That is what footbsll fans in this country want.
Going to be fun in January when our takeover is given the green light and the Saudi’s want nothing to do us because we’re rock bottom with 10 points
Fair point however there are still teams that are doing well. Brighton currently are. Everton are aswell. Leicester have had some brilliant seasons. But believe it or not they where booing their team last week. Villa are doing ok (compared to us). The big six is a product now unfortunately and sky have been spouting it for years. But look at the leagues around the world. Spanish football is falling to bits. Scottish football is crap. Italian football is on its knees. French football is now garbage. Germany has the best model. But Bayern have won everything lately. But because of all the money invested by the owners the transfer fees and salary’s have gone to far and most cannot keep up. I wonder. Is a ESL actually that bad an idea. Let them all spunk money at a dead horse and let us have our football back with proper regulation.
We are looking at it a bit rose tinted I am afraid. We where spending above our means and meant we where in the thick of it. It should really be the big clubs winning things. When I say that I mean the supported one.
No. They can’t be in two seperate leagues. The PL made it clear they couldn’t be in two. Did they not?
The ONLY reason this never went ahead was because a certain Mr Murdoch wasn't involved on any side of the globe.
Just watched Steve’s post match interview and his body language was not one of which looks stressed or worried about his job security. He’s not going anywhere is he?
