Let's be honest though, Christmas is a festival supplanted over the top of a Pagan celebration of the winter solstice, same as Easter and the rebirth and all that, designed to wipe out the old Pagan spring equinox celebrations and the rebirth of the natural world. Jesus was actually born in June according to Astronomers, who calculated that the star the three wise men saw would only have been present in the summer. So your neighbours are actually 4 months late
Just had to have the old dear’s Labrador put to sleep. The old girl is on her own now, the dog was her only companion. I’m going to take her out in a bit for a change of scene sad day
She’s 75 now and I’m not sure she’s got the gumption to look after a new puppy. I’m trying to talk to her about getting a cat. They are good company and less maintenance than a dog. The old dear is in bits at the moment though
We had to say goodbye to our eldest cat a few weeks ago, it’s a tough gig, we’re down to just the one cat now
Give her time, mate. Animals lovers see our little mates as family. I'd freak out if somebody suggested 'just getting a new one' soon after my dog goes for the eternal sleep. If somebody's child dies you wouldn't suggest that they just have another one. Same goes for our pets.
Yeah, she’s been through this a few times before, like me. So she knows the drill. Like you say, given a bit of time she might come round, but I’m not pushing her to make any decisions today
Sorry bro, i've not had neither although i'm not silly enough to know that replacing a loved one (pet or human) is easy. It was more of a case of if you lost a child but also had a baby, you still need to grieve but you also need to keep going for your baby. In piskies mums case she's going to be in even worse shape as she literally has no one around, no job to go to poor thing
I understand the reasoning behind it, mate. Non-issue. I'm starting to put support in place for me now for when I go through it. My dog has been the last earthling I've seen and said goodnight to on a night before I close my eyes and the first I've seen and said good morning to when I've opened my eyes. This has gone on for just under a decade. She even used to come and sit in my shop every day with me. The obvious concern with me because of my mental health is that I might not be able to handle it and do something silly. I couldn't face another dog soon after, it wouldn't be fair on me or the dog because it would never be Skye, it wouldn't be the same. Ridiculous how close some of us get to them really.
sorry to hear That . Had to have Toby put to sleep a couple of years ago and I still miss him everyday .
Yeah, we also lost our big lad a couple of years back and he’s still sorely missed. He was a real character. The life cycles of pets being so different to ours is a real ****ter - unless you buy a tortoise but they’re a bit ****.
Yes . We have 3 others now 2 brothers 2 years old and a female from a farm she’s 5 weeks older than them . Mrs J bought Toby for me when I was off with depression so there was a special bond , that plus the fact I had to have him put to sleep as he developed sudden paralysis, kicked the **** out of me .
