Don't suppose Paratici fancies texting CCV to ask how good Florian Wirtz looked every time he left him in the dust tonight?
Aside from Kane having to save the manager’s job, the only player to come out of this game with a modicum of respect is Lo Celso and that should earn him a start for Sunday. So expect to see Dele picked ahead of him.
Last 20 mins maybe. Wasn't all that for the first 70... Rodon was hardly under pressure, but enhanced his reputation I thought.
Nuno just seems a decent bloke so am pleased for him...think he is a dead man walking but think he will be around for a while simply cos no one else will touch us with a barge pole.
No one will disagree with him being a decent bloke but I don’t care if you’re a decent bloke or a massive prick, I wanna see good football and he can’t deliver that. People would take this job if given the right amount of control. 95% of managers would love to work with Kane and Son, with them two alone you can build around them with an attacking system in which at the very least they’ll get you enough goals to get by. Nuno can’t and isn’t doing that.
It's difficult to judge as they are usually on display against vastly inferior opposition, but from what I've seen... Romero looks much more comfortable on the ball than both Sanchez and Dier, while his positioning and anticipation is also better. I think Sanchez is better on the turn than Rodon, but the latter looks much more assured in the air. The bottom line is we have watched Dier and Sanchez clown around for 4 years now, enough is enough. Romero and Rodon have youth on their side and will only get better with experience. I'd like to see them given a run.
Hmmm... I'm 2/3 with and 1/3 against on this Lucas getting a run-out was a no-brainer, as he'd missed a couple of weeks after getting nobbled against Rennes Kane coming on to get a confidence-boosting goal (or three) does make sense, and nobody expected Scarlett to play the full 90 Son, on the other hand, is our best performer so there's no advantage in bringing him on unless Nuno thought we needed him to win
Defence had nothing to do though other than pick the ball out the net from the Mura player’s great strike. I like Joe a lot for what it’s worth but it’s just hard to say he had a good game when he more or less could’ve sat down and played poker for most of the night.
Romero certainly had the more eye-catching moments, as he was casually picking up balls they were tying to play through all night. Obviously nothing comparable to the Ledders or Verts highlight reels, but quietly in charge of the back line So, Dier starts against Villa then?
I have moaned long and hard about how turgid our football has been over the past 2 years so I honestly do not disagree mate
If I were Nuno...well one, where the **** did my hair just go? But secondly, I'd sit both Ndombele and Dele down and make them watch a supercut of Lo Celso tonight The difference in having somebody in the creative role who knows when to make the killer ball, when to try something fancy to leave an opponent rooted to the spot and when to play the percentage play and having...well, what they do in matches, it really stood out Obviously the opposition were less top drawer and more drawer where you keep the tshirts you used to wear but now they're looking a bit raggedy you wear them the week before you go on holiday, but since Dele was trying to nutmeg people's shinpads all evening that does say something ...come to think of it, they could probably have learned from Winks tonight as well
Congrats on beating the 200th ranked team in Europe. 3 places behing Progres Niedercorn - that well known Luxembourg powerhouse. 52 behind Fola.
Nuno at his post match press conference: "A lot of positives" I suspect that over the International break some managers may be approached.
