Although the guy is great and i'm not knocking him, he does not seem his dominant self. It seems to coincide with the arrival of Hooiveld. Although as a pairing I would not swap them for any other, do you think Fonte prefers to play with more inexperienced partners, as he always has with us, giving direction and cotrolling the middle

He's playing in the Championship with, and against, better players. He's entitled to a little variation in form.

i agree - he doesnt seem as comfortable this season & has been very erratic

but fonte has usally been the inexperienced person, his main partner being jaidi so i dont think its anything to do with that

He was pretty good yesterday. His form before that was a bit naff, but he's getting used to the Championship again after dropping down to League One for a couple of seasons.

Plus, he's getting used to just focusing on his own game and players he needs to mark.

Mean spirited perhaps, but wouldn't it be great to have Killer and Lundekvam in this team. Not much would get past them.

He made me poo myself when he slipped and let Baldock in but in the air, he was just as immense as Jos. Still a bargain.

Sorry, this is so not right. He played really well last night; one slip apart. I think he's playing well in a higher league and I feel confident at how we are doing. He and Jos are still generally winning most stuff in the air and no one has torn him a new one!

Agree fatletiss this is so not right!! Fonte probably had his toughest game for us since joining, WHU were lobbing high balls to Carew which was always going to make him a difficult opponent. Jose stood firm and committed and never waivered from his task, even though he maybe lacking a bit of form and confidence. Claus was a great servant but I've never forgotton when he completely bottled it at Fratton, probably not fair but I've never forgotton it.

Maybe overconfidence? It's not like players to lack confidence when their side is comfortably top of the league.

Maybe, maybe not....an over convident player is normally complacent and I don't think Jose has been that, NA wouldn't allow that, that's why we're comfortably top of the league. All players are going to have dips in form and confidence but the real good players, which Jose is, will keep plugging away. In my opinion Lambert didn't have his greatest game for us the other night but I'm not going to hammer him for it.

what's fatigue Greg? I still don't understand what people are on about here. He's doing well still. There is no problem. Last season he dominated nearly every minute of the games he played; now he's up against better teams and better players.
