This was their 5th consecutive draw, having started the season with 3 losses and 2 wins in August. Their top scorer this season is Riis Jacobsen with 7 goals already this season. After our win on Tuesday night, we sit 8th, but could drop to 10th after tonight's games. Dykes remains our top scorer, with 4 goals...but it was good to see Chair get on the score sheet with two goals yesterday. It'll be interesting to see if Warburton sticks with the same game plan as last night, and although a few, including myself, questioned the lack of width last night, we won and kept a clean sheet so no complaints from me. Team News: QPR: Lee Wallace, Sam Field, Sam McCallum and Charlie Owens will all miss out for the R’s. Preston North End: Andrew Hughes may be back, whilst Ched Evans and Matthew Olosunde will miss out. Pre-match talk: Mark Warburton (QPR Manager): “We are at home, the fans have been excellent, but we have to make sure we impose ourselves on the game, try and be on the front foot, which you have to be especially at home in front of your supporters, Preston is another tough challenge but one we have to rise to. “We have to recognise the strengths of our opponents. Frankie (McAvoy) organises his sides very well, they have good physicality, they have pace and power, good technical players, but we know what we face, every week it’s the same, I’m forever repeating myself because there’s no lack of respect for any side in this league.” Frankie McAvoy (Preston Manager): “QPR at home and they’re in good fettle. Mark Warburton is an excellent manager; he’s been in the Championship many times and done really well. He did really well when he moved up to Scotland at Rangers so I’ve nothing but the utmost respect for him, a really nice man as well, and it’ll be nothing but a difficult game again on Saturday.” ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Now that top 3 are sorted, play off positions totally up for grabs, I really think are squad is good enough(no more than a few injuries permitting) for us to grab one of them. Therefore 3pts required from this match, then a couple of weeks to get a left wing back back to full fitness to have a serious go at Fulham.
Bit early to be giving them the top 3 places just yet, long long season. Brom had 3 draws on trot before we handed them victory, Fulham had list 2 of last 3 and I'd like to see them if Mitrovic got a bad injury and Bournemouth only drew with Peterborough tonight ! It's amazing where a run of 5 straight wins can take you in this division, equally a run of poor results. Even drawing games can do you damage in this league, wins are so massive.
I hope Warburton was paying attention to the Fulham game tonight. They had under 40% possession tonight at home to Swansea but were lethal on the counter attack, something we need to be very wary of. Swansea had alot of chances too mind , they just didn't have Mitrovic
3 points a must in my eyes Saturday, Preston have tightened up at the back in recent weeks so a bit of patience might be required. We have to win these home games though, if we want to be involved around the top 6.
Welcome back Hammersmith, I like you're assertive posting. Was it your uncle who used to post on here? ( Hammersmith Hoopton. )
Am quietly hoping for another "comfortable" win and three more points. These are the matches which need to win (elegently, in style or even in an ugly manner) if we are to harbour any thoughts of being near the play-offs at the end of the season. This league is a marathon and the key is consistent form to regulartly pick-up points. Am travelling to Iceland for a long weekend so will not be able to watch the stream. I look forward to reading your posts. Enjoy the match wherever you will watch or listen to it. COYR's!
Morning folks looking forward to us getting another draw on our way to a club records of 30 plus draws this season, will be making the trip just love the luxury seats in the away end said no one ever. Not surprised you beat Brum we played them last Saturday dire game expect this to be more entertaining at least you lads play football. Will post match thread on here when I can eventually get round to it.
Thanks pal, have no idea why it blocked me out for so long and so randomly. Yep Hammersmith Hoopton was indeed my uncle ( still sorely missed by all of us ) and I used to be Hammersmith Junior ! Good to be back , hopefully won't be blocked out again lol.
Preston won't be easy by any means, 9 games unbeaten in all competitions now so no mugs. Will take a very good performance to win the game.
This is the type of game where we need to score first as they are the masters of sh1thousery, so if they score first it could be a very long afternoon........ Up The R's
I will be astonished if 2 of these 3 are not automatically promoted. 2 relegated teams and Bournemouth with parachute payments, they have the squads and games changers. This is our strongest squad for some time so no reason not to finish in the play offs but automatic is not going to happen however positive you are
Obviously they are the prime candidates but nothing is foregone in this division. Would you still fancy Fulham to go up without Mitrovic if he got injured ? Too many games and too many things can happen. One can only hope that some irregularities are found in Fulham or Bournmouth's accounts somewhere and a small 20 point deduction is enforced
