Look on the brightside, we didn't lose and bagged a goal from an unlikely source. Onwards and upwards,
Awful performance and listening to GM he is as delusional as ever. Interesting though when he goes with the 2 up top and even with 10 men we looked more dangerous and scored a goal who’d have thought it. But it will be back to type come Saturday and more excuses on why we lost. Never takes any responsibility always excuses.
I always wondered what PLT stood for. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mum-says-sons-would-disown-25087897
You're right ... irritating. He's right though imo to say a deserved point last night (although it's not enough). But to say our previous "performance levels" (whatever they actually are!?!) have been excellent is just plain daft. And it sounds crystal clear from that interview that he has no intention whatsoever of changing the set up. Incredible. He talks about all this flexibility & options we have up front, which there is in terms of the players he has at his disposal, but in reality there's no flexibility, as it's always the same basic set up, one that just isn't working - all he does is shuffle the deckchairs. McCann Out.
wont let me listen without logging in, i can make a decent guess of what he says , but what is the most face punching worthy bit this time?
“ I hope it drives the players on to a new lease of life from now on,” said McCann. “If we can keep creating opportunities and be positive, things will hopefully change. “We dug it out and I think we deserved a point. Our performance levels have been good and I’m a big believer things will turn around. “You can either hide under a rock or you can get on with it. We’re learning on the job but I thought we controlled the game for large spells. “Credit to the players. They stuck together and we could have won it.” “I know we need to be better in the forward areas but the boys stayed really calm,” he said. “It was disappointing to lose Lewie but the boys rallied. I’m pleased for big Tom because he’s deserved that. “We’re a young squad and it’s been tough for the last few games but we think it will turn.”
I’m genuinely astounded that he thinks recent performances have been good, he makes out like we are battering teams but can’t score. Even neutral spectators can see it all falls apart in the final third.
What is Terry on about. This game is all about results. We need points not some hopeless romantic going on about performances. He should be managing in a theatre.
I can only presume he's saying this stuff to try and keep up morale/protect the team, and sacrificing his own credibility to do so. Otherwise it's too reminiscent of one of those colleagues who you know are not doing a good job, but are great at bullshitting the boss so somehow they get away with it. I can't criticise anyone on the pitch last night for lack of effort or laziness, but I see a team limited by how they are told to play and the set-up, and trying too hard to stick to that. He needs to understand what finally lit the fire in their bellies at 81 minutes and why it suddenly all worked. From my seat in the stands, it seemed to be - down to 10 men/backs against the wall/just go for it got them going. And fair play because they must have been knackered and freezing cold and soaking wet so to pull out that effort at the end of the match must deserve some credit. And the forced change in formation worked well too. Will he learn from it? I'm not holding my breath...
