    Fulham v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Craven Cottage
    Date - 29 September 2021
    Kick off - 7.45pm

Following their deserved 1-0 home win against Huddersfield, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is an away match at Promotion hopefuls Fulham.

Last Saturday, Russell Martin finally celebrated a first home league victory as Joel Piroe's goal proved enough to see off Huddersfield Town.

Martin's side had drawn three and lost one of their four Championship games on their own ground this season.

But Piroe's composed finish was reward for Swansea's first-half dominance.

Carlos Corberan's Huddersfield slipped to a third defeat in their last four games as they created little despite an improved showing after the break.

Whilst the Swans were beating the Tigers, Bristol City were fighting back to draw at home to Fulham in an entertaining match full of chances at Ashton Gate.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his seventh league goal of the season to give the visitors the lead just after half-time, having hit the crossbar seconds earlier.

But the home side were dangerous on the counter-attack and (former Swansea loanee) substitute Kasey Palmer equalised soon after being brought on.

Fulham had a trio of chances to get the winner late on but hit the bar twice, with Mitrovic also sending a shot narrowly wide.

The Swans have played Fulham on 67 previous occasions, winning 24, losing 33 and drawing 10.

The teams last played each other at Craven Cottage in February 2020 - the season when Fulham were promoted to the PL - when Fulham ran out 1-0 winners:

Turning to Wednesday, Fulham will be looking to improve on a run of just one win from four Championship fixtures, whilst the Swans, unbeaten in their last 4 Championship matches, will want to build on their win over Huddersfield and continue to climb up the table.

I’m hoping that the Swans will stretch their unbeaten run to 5 matches and return to South Wales with (at least) a point. 1-1 <cheers>

Thanks Taff....if we start positively on the front foot and score early I think we can win this...as an aside speaking to a very good CCFC supporting friend of mine he reckons they will be playing in League one next season..they are clueless apparently....

Thanks again Taff. I am going on Wednesday so apologies in advance if I jinx it!
After the injustice suffered last season when we had that crap ref Tim Robbinson I am being positive and I think we can come away with a 1-1.

A draw at Fulham will put us above our capital city but we want a win don’t we? And we want that club to give MM a vote of confidence for at least another month....

Cheers Taff, an away game under lights with two sides on par imo (once we throw off the shackles of course) , should be good game and one we're capable of obtaining at least a draw. 1-1

Swansea City head coach Russell Martin has named an unchanged matchday squad for the Championship clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

On the back of a first home league win over the season, which extended the Swans’ unbeaten run to four games, Martin has elected to go with the same 18 for the clash with the promotion favourites.

Ryan Bennett, Rhys Williams and Michael Obafemi do not return from their respective recent absences.

That means Ben Hamer continues in goal, with Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton and Ryan Manning making up the Swansea back three.

Ethan Laird and Jake Bidwell are the two wing-backs, with captain Matt Grimes and Flynn Downes paired together in the centre of midfield.

Olivier Ntcham and Jamie Paterson will operate in advanced roles, providing support for top scorer and lone striker Joel Piroe.

Fulham: Paulo Gazzaniga, Denis Odoi, Harrison Reed, Neeskens Kebano, Harry Wilson, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Tim Ream (captain), Bobby Decordova-Reid, Tosin Adarabioyo, Joe Bryan, Jean-Michael Seri.

Substitutes: Marek Rodak, Michael Hector, Ivan Cavaleiro, Rodrigo Muniz, Domingos Quina, Josh Onomah, Alfie Mawson.

Swansea City: Ben Hamer; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughtin, Ryan Manning; Ethan Laird, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Jake Bidwell; Olivier Ntcham, Jamie Paterson; Joel Piroe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Brandon Cooper, Liam Cullen, Joel Latibeaudiere, Liam Walsh.
