If the PL get hit with the £300m bill they will automatically make the club the bad guys as it will reduce the PL prize money pot. The 10% global turnover fine they could be hit with in addition to the £300m fee could be an interesting one though.

They can only appeal on a point of law - CAT misinterpreting the law around jurisdiction. Absolutrly no chance of that given their experience. The PL would need leave to appeal and unless there has been s significant misapplication of the law - no chance.

Neither of those things are going to happen though.

Doesn’t take one of them mate, merely a brain and some rudimentary knowledge.

To be clear, nobody on earth is going to make the PL pay £300m. First, that’s not what the club is worth (the debt to Ashley is irrelevant). Second, he could sell the club to countless other parties so the PL aren’t restricting trade, they’ve just put the kibosh on a deal with Saudi Arabia. At best he could be owed the difference which theoretically could mean the club can be sold quickly to someone else, but even then I doubt that’s what a court would find.

Does anyone know how long the decision takes? 2 weeks to a month mentioned, but is this guesswork?

Competition law is primarily about protecting the consumer. The idea that Ashley is getting the full value of his asset as recompense for the Saudis doing one, whilst he also retains said asset is fairytale stuff. As is the PL getting fined 10% of its turnover.

10% of Global annual turnover is the maximum sanction the CAT can impose. That would NOT go to Mike Ashley or the club in any way shape or form. It is simply the maximum penalty the court can impose in addition to any relevant compensation to a pursuant.

None of this matters because it's all about putting the premier league into a difficult situation before arbitration ever starts
