Good Morning. It's Tuesday 28th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Man Utd plot Phillips capture The Daily Star are reporting (so it must be true) that Manchester United have lost interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, in favour of England teammate Kalvin Phillips. Bringing a top drawer defensive midfielder is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wish list, but believe West Ham's valuation of 90m is too high, and have turned their attention across the Pennines! They estimate a fee between 50m - 60m would be sufficient to lure the 25yo to Old Trafford. The Yorkshire Pirlo came close to leaving Elland Road in the Summer of 2019, in favour of Aston Villa. Only a timely intervention from Victor Orta, and wise words from his late grandmother, spared Leeds heartache. Later that Summer, Phillips signed a new and improved four year contract that expires in the Summer of 2024. Having not strengthened sufficiently in the Summer, many questions have been raised about their lack of ambition. Whilst I'm sure all Leeds fans are grateful for what Radrizzzani has done for the club, Leeds cannot expect to keep their prized assets unless they can demonstrate that they are moving forward. Survival is not enough! please log in to view this image Leeds need five or six players in January Former player, now pundit Frank McAvennie believes Leeds need to invest in five or six new players in the January transfer window if they want to continue with their intense playing style. The 61yo former West Ham and Scotland hitman accepts that whilst Bielsa will not change his playing style, the squad are going to be more susceptible to injury. According to McAvennie: “Leeds play with such a high tempo. It’s so intense, if you play like that, there will be injuries. They haven’t prepared for that. “They aren’t like Manchester City, they don’t have two different starting sides. There’s nothing Bielsa can do about that. He won’t change his style for anyone. “They have to go out in January and buy five or six, I’m not joking. If they want to keep playing like that, with players flying into tackles, people will get injured.” Is big Frank right? We got away with it in our first season back in the top flight, but are starting to feel it now? Are Leeds missing out on points due to not changing their tactics? please log in to view this image
Firstly good morning Elland and all who follow. I'm not interested in paper talk, it's done to unsettle Leeds Utd and wind up our supporters. If he did ever sign for the scum, I wonder how the reaction would be. I'll keep my thoughts under wraps because I don't want another LL situation. Regarding the comments by that ex west shammer, he is stating the bloody obvious. But we haven't got a bottomless pit of money like certain clubs have and even if we had I don't think Bielsa would buy any player just for the sake of it. Off subject a bit, but to me staying in this division is more important than last season. The main reason being is that the proposed increase to the capaciy of the ground would probably not go ahead, we may lose Bielsa and also our top players. So fit players that we have will have to get their heads down and work their bollocks off in the upcoming games and start putting more points on the board.
Morning all Firstly no way will Phillips go to Man Utd simply because he knows he will get trashed by a section of our fans. £50m for the best midfielder in England is way too cheap and the plan is to tie him to a new deal which would have a release clause of £90m so that the club get rewarded. So fk off Daily Star cocaine snorting, binge drinking, adulterer McKevenie is a cock no nowt pundit and not worth commenting on
Morning all I’m with Shaks I take the paper talk with a pinch of salt. I do believe it will be an almighty task holding on to Phillips and I’d not be surprised if he wasn’t with us next season. He is mixing and making new friends with the England set up and it will be easy for Liverpool or Man City to tap him up. I honestly believe this is Bielsas last season with us so I’m expecting huge changes for next season and a few ups and downs along the way. I can’t see any other coach getting the best out of Dallas and Roberts along with a few others.
This is why the richest clubs in Europe will always get away with murder and the top 4 clubs in this country also never get fined and get away with whatever they want. All these clubs know they can do whatever they want because without them the worldwide tv audience would be small. Stinks
Morning all, Phillips is just ****e paper talk and a desperate attempt for clicks on social media. While he may leave one day I seriously doubt it would be to the scum. The thought of Granny Val rolling over in her grave is enough to put stop to that. As for Mcavennie. Just another crap pundit showing how little they know about the club as it is right now and just spouting general bull crap. Do we need a player or two? Yes probably. Is buying in January how we do things? No.
Both are pointless talking about as none can happen soon or be changed. Alot can change in 3 months The media are doing what they enjoy doing stiring the shyte especially when things are not going so well. Its for us as a club and Fanbase to pay no attention to outsiders then for the players to rub these ex players faces into the shyte to prove them wrong like we did with many from last season.
Excellent point about a lot changing in three months. Things could click and players could stay fit and we go on a winning run and find ourselves in the fight for Europe and the final of the league Cup. This happens and all talk of anyone leaving goes away. We could carry on as we are and find ourselves languishing at the wrong end of the table and suddenly 60-70 million seems a good idea.
End of the day the real Leeds fans know the score we follow the club every day. we don't need ex pros telling us what is needed or not needed when asked. we all know we are probably a couple of faces short in this transfer window but we also know Bielsa likes a small squad. We know as a team we need to finish In a good position to keep our best players it's not rocket science. Of course the daily Star know scum want Phillips they sit in the board room don't they and hear all the Pvt chats.
I expect Rapha to leave at the end of the season. These kids come to Europe to get in the national squad and to play champions league football. I can't see Phillips leaving under his current contract. He wants to do it with Leeds so he will give us another chance. He might jump ship at 28-30 year old if we don't get there. Don't fret guys...Roberts won't put in a transfer request.
The Leeds website is pretty gash really. Click on players and struggle, click on academy and get ziltch, you would think there would be player profiles on all the kids by age group but zero. There should be league tables etc but nothing. All you need though if the female version of football is what you crave
so I wonder who we are taking to Oldham tonight then in the EFL Trophy ? seems like we could field a better team tonight be good to see how they would do.
I went onto Sky Sports and saw there was womens golf, football, netball, cricket and rugby league. Now I've no problem with women playing sport, but I'm wondering how much Sky are losing by showing this ****e on TV and is the mens coverage suffering from it.
Apparently, this is our squad for the last time we faced Watford. Surprisingly, 2 players are still appearing for us! Btw, could someone remind me who Ngoyi was. Can't recall him at all. please log in to view this image
Think Southampton had him, and released him. Leeds snapped him up as a freebee and made a couple of appearances. Think he was released at the end of that season.
U21's are live on LUTV @ 7pm tonight. That's against Oldham in the Papa John's Trophy. Will probably watch the 1st half to see how we're doing and then decide between CL and sticking with the young lads. Just going back to Saturday and Charlie Cresswell for a moment...as Marcos mentioned, I do have a question mark about his pace at the highest level. The lad did great and had a very good debut, plus he's still growing and maturing so is definitely a fine prospect. Unfortunately no quicker than Cooper at the moment though, let's hope he finds an extra yard from somewhere during his continuing development and then he could be top class.
