It will be procedural. Absolutely nothing exciting. The PL will be arguing that rule 34 of the Tribunal rules apply. ST James - that both cases are based on different material facts.
To be fair mate I'm feeling bad for you, because not only is today not Wednesday and the CAT doesn't take place today, Payday isn't tomorrow, Friday isn't the day after tomorrow. On a plus point you have an extra 24 hours before NUFC ruin our weekends .
Ohhhhh Myyyyy Dayssss It's only Tuesday??? WTF is going on? Heavy weekend but not heavy enough to loose/gain a day?
Snippet from a chronicle report….(LR is Lee Ryder) Ritchie Kendrick: Think we all know the inevitability of the outcome (of takeover hearing), so I wonder how our owner will react? LR: If the CAT case gets thrown out then some action needs to be taken in backing Steve Bruce with a decent transfer package in January. Newcastle may need to spend to get themselves away from trouble in January after wasting the chance in the summer. Sadly, the club exists limping from one window to the next and assessing the damage after its be done instead of being proactive.
Yes indeed. Having said that I’m thinking the complete opposite to them but it just shows how different people are looking at t.
Just out of interest on the Takeover - If the EPL are simply disallowing it on the grounds of it being a Saudi company - Is there not a discrimination or racism aspect to this?
Difficult to say its racism but it does feel like they are discriminating against a state that cuts people in to lots of little pieces for writing bad things about them or stoning gays to death but I'm not sure King Binman want to do that argument in public...
For me its the anti competitive nature of the refusal to give a decision and also bowing to pressure from those that pay the bills (Qatar).
@Sheikh_of_Araby your the man when it comes to legal stuff. Let’s say the CAT falls in favour of us. The PL will just appeal for the sake of it right? So are they allowed to without any grounds for appeal!
@Sheikh_of_Araby i am also reading that regardless of the CAT tomorrow and eventually the final outcome it’s the ARB that will ultimately pass the takeover. So we could drag out all the dirt. Win CAT bit if we lose ARB then the takeover doesn’t happen. Is this true.
If CAT goes ahead the premier league will fold. They'll drag it out though. They'll say(all parties) a compromise was reached or some **** like that around Xmas imo
I reckon they’d move quicker Roy - my rationale…. if CAT’s going ahead then the EPL immediately see that there’s a 50/50 chance they can lose the case. If they lose the case then they’d be (I presume) landed with a 300 million losses bill. The only way of avoiding that bill is to let the Saudis give Mike that money instead…. but every week that is slipping by waiting for a CAT hearing runs the risk that the Saudis will walk away officially (again!) taking their filthy petrol dollars with them…. and the bill can then only be delivered to EPL HQ. If we win the jurisdiction argument tomorrow, I say the EPL will then pass it asap so they aren’t left holding the invoice
The thing is that will leave them with plenty of questions as to what was being hidden. If they just lose tomorrow and then say OK then it'll make it obvious they had things to hide. If this takeover goes through the rest of the football world is going to cry their eyes out and will be looking to execute the premier league. It'll suddenly become mainstream unlike the situation is now. I could be wrong but I suspect all parties would agree to some story about a restructuring or some **** like that
I agree, there’ll be a cover story, but I am hopeful it’ll be wheeled out quickly; better a red face than a £300m bill
Me too, but I have a feeling we're relying on more than getting the nod from the premier league. They new owners wouldn't be able to do anything until January.... I suspect if Newcastle are in the **** they'll just hold back for a few weeks before throwing 300 million away if the club goes down
