Nobody ever achieves anything on their own. Sometimes the same group of people can stick together and run out of momentum. Some people have success over and over again with different groups. Other great people might fail because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. As the manager Paul Cook takes credit for the successes he was involved in as a manager along with everybody else who played a part in them.

Cook’s results here are certainly far from impressive but he’s basically been given enough rope by the new owners to put together a whole new Club setup.
He hasn’t been able to put out what ,I’m sure,he would regard as his first choice eleven even once yet.
If we switch horses at this stage is a new man going to want to rip it all up and start again?Patience is,in my opinion, the best policy at this stage.

After watching the highlights, at times we saw glimpses of a new more dynamic Ipswich. Only glmpses mind, but I like others am happy to be patient for a few weeks more. 3 pts Tuesday are a must to keep the momentum going.

How on earth Bonne missed at least 2 sitters - not his day!

And as for Owls Goalie error - what a hoot at the end! I have never seen that in 60 years. On reflection it was as much his defenders fault as his.

Sounds like Mick Mills wasn't impressed at all yesterday and I normally agree with alot of his observations but sounded like he had a bee in his bonnet about something.

Most people seem to be fairly positive about yesterday and from the highlights it looks like we're playing some decent football, opening teams up.

For me the biggest positives of the past couple of games has been that we've looked a bit more solid particularly not leaving as much space in the fullback positions which needed to happen, the goals we were conceding we could not keep playing with full backs high up the pitch. Whether it's a tactical decision or a personnel decision or a bit of both I'm not sure. I think we'll be able to tell when KVY gets back in the team.

Another thing which sounds like it should be changed pretty soon is swapping Celina and Frasers position around with Celina going wide left and Fraser through the centre.

Patience is definitely needed and if the gradual improvements keep coming there's no way we should sack Cook, as I've said this season I have no expectations in terms of promotion (whilst not writing it off) if we have a real positive 2nd half of the season where we look start clicking and really looking like a force in this decision as long as we are challenging for the playoffs that's good enough for me. I just think talk of promotion and ripping it up this year frustrated me because that came before we'd even signed any players. Small steps and if we end up challenging this year that's a bonus.

The tactics and selection have definitely tightened up and I’m wondering if Donacien has found a real role to offset the marauding coulson because having Kvy too wasn’t working

im also wondering if Kvy flourished under lambert because the rest of the team was set up to not conceded he could fly forward and do some damage without the gaps being exploited. He might now be a round leg in a square hole?

Perhaps answering my own question re: Donacien I think there was a couple of games where he too was having similar issues earlier in the season, so I hope more that it's a case of Cook realising he needed to sure it up a bit. I seem to recall Donacian having a nightmare one game, he didn't get forward alot but he wasn't helped out at all by the players around him.

For me at the start of this season we were the polar opposite of how we were set up under Mick where we would defend as a team but attack as individuals this time we seemed to attack as a team but defend as individuals and no matter how good your players are that's not going to work.

I remember under Burley and Royle we were never particularly known to be a good defensive team but you except being a bit more open if you played attacking positive football, the start of this season it felt too much and unnecessary, it was clear where the weaknesses were and they seem to only now just be getting addressed.

Burley had an entirely different class of player and Royle’s side were not too far behind. They would absolutely demolish 20 of the 24 sides in this division.

I see there is another international break on the horizon, will that cause our game with the Shrews to be called off ?
