It's fairly even right now. Burns has been good, Bonne fluffed his lines with an early goal attempt. Idris is just keeping things simple but being effective. Hladky makes some strange decisions and comes a little too far out sometimes for my liking. Burgess is unbeatable in the air.
0-1 at half time then. Nothing special about the first half. We really should have been a goal up early but Bonne just had a bit too much time when one on one with the goalkeeper and shot tamely straight into the keepers chest. Mick Mills was a bit harsh on the players at half time, saying that he doesn't think anybody can be happy with their performance so far. I think that's uncalled for because Donacien has been solid and El Mizouni can be happy with what he has done in the match. Sheffield aren't fantastic and we can get something from the game, we just need to keep going.
Got a hunch if we get the goal, we will start motoring and go on and win this. Fullbacks must push forward, seems no link up play.
Mick mentioned he thinks the players are trained too intensively, and not for the game ahead; which might account for our shocking run of injuries, and being knackered last 15.
Right now I would sub Fraser for Harper, put him behind Bonne and move Celina to the left. Fraser isn't really a winger and he hasn't impressed in that role.
Not at our best, need freshening up and get something from this game. Or we will be in bottom 3 and 13 points behind leaders!
Bonne shoots straight at the keeper again when clean through. Maybe feeling the pressure of the armband today?
Not got his shooting boots on today, could have had 2, and what a difference the first might have made.
I noticed that comment too. I hope the intense training is to get the players' fitness levels to where they need to be and that the sessions can be scaled back a bit once this team have been together longer and understand the system etc. Mills has a point that if they are being worked too hard during the week then there won't be much left in the tank come match day.
