For what it's worth I think a large proportion of our supporters have become disillusioned with what's been going on, and while some still love the club, they have fallen out of love with it at the minute. The only way I see crowds vastly improving is a change in owner and manager. Sad but true !

I still attend game's but this is exactly how i feel at the moment, i attend more out of habit at the moment than anything else , I will always be CTID, but as it is we're going through a very rough patch in this relationship at this moment in time.

I think they kept it for a year for the ones who joined when we were in Division 4. You will remember that lad wh9 travelled to every game with his mates from Brid. Only missed 1 game in any competition in the 12 years before AP bought us. He was in it from the start but his mates who went to over 90% of away games in those years didn't join. The first season he got tickets but the others often couldn't so he used to have to go to the glamour away games on his own. Duffen's remark was that it wasn't his job to decide who was a good fan or not. Funny how many tickets on the supposedly fair system went to fans who didn't even know the names of the players, like the ones who asked you to tell their lads their names at Arsenal as it was the first game for all of them, but ones like that car full who had gone everywhere during the Dolan years and under the Sheffield Stealers and Lloyd couldn't.
As you know the lad I am on about collapsed and died the Monday after we beat Man City so only saw 1 and a half seasons in the PL. Only 50. Once came a video on YouTube of him standing with a rather contemptuous look on his face as a load of PL new arrivals were singing Mauled By The Tigers complete with hand actions at the Emirates.<laugh>

KLP has undoubted talent. My problem is he seems to believing his own hype ATM instead of doing his stuff and not trying to be to clever. The players he is up against this season are much better than league 1.

Don't disagree with any of that.
However who 'we' are and who you refer to as 'ourselves' is interesting.
If you're just referring to people on here that's fair enough (although it wouldn't be enough to be really noticeable in terms of crowd numbers)
If you mean the wider fanbase then it becomes a bit chicken and egg I think.
Whether the wider base is fickle isn't as relevant (although I tend to agree) as what can be done about it. I'm no expert, but if fans here are fickle then the club need to do even more than they might otherwise, because the nature of people here, good or bad, is what it is. The only way to break that cycle is to get enough in by whatever route and hope a number of them get hooked and stay and don't be fickle (and then not kick the ones who become loyal by doing things like the self harming away direct decision and even some of the stand evictions)

Not easy, but still needs effort regardless.

    Yep, this is it.

It's negative, small-time and Allam-like to endlessly focus on how wrong it is that people don't come, rather than actually trying to do anything about it.

But what can you do ? Every thing has been tried. I think it's a Hull thing. We have three professional sports clubs all competing for support in a relatively small city. City fans are fickle and so are FC and HKR fans, so for all the community effort those two clubs put in it doesn't do a lot of good because they both struggle to attract decent crowds too.
But if you lump the combined attendances of all three clubs there are over 20,000 people actually going through a turnstile on a matchday in this city, it's just a pity it's split three ways.
If we were a one club city, like Burnley, Sunderland or Barnsley do you think we would be getting gates of 20,000 on a regular basis ? Likewise if we only had one RL club and no football club in Hull ?
So it's not negative or small time, it is what it is.
The only way we are going to maintain good crowds at City is to be winning every week and if we did that would have a detrimental effect on the gates at FC and Rovers, and the same would happen if the situation was reversed.

They relented and kept Away Direct for about 40 fans, then closed applications altogether in about the second week of the first Premiership season, and away direct meant the club posted you a ticket and charged for it for every away game. All names then went into a ballot, which I didn't believe for one moment. For Chelsea away I had to book onto a corporate club trip organised by the club and they had as many tickets as people wanted to go. No ballot for them.

Yes, the lad I was referring to was one of those 30 0r 40 who had been members in Division 4. I don't think AP would have cancelled the scheme for the original few.
Always 5hought it strange how 5he ballot for tickets at Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton etc found their way into the hands of 3,000 who all stood up whilst so many of ours in a smaller pool of fans went to people taking kids who had never been before and people who thought you should sit down like you are at a theatre.

I couldn't disagree more. I don't think City try at all. In fact I think it's almost arrogant how little effort the club puts into getting people to go.

There's occasionally a small billboard campaign or something and that's about it. How many football fans in Hull know when and where City are playing or how much it would cost? I bet hardly any of those who don't already go regularly, know how cheap a kids ticket is, or how affordable the memberships are for adults. There's a rich untapped market of local football fans who don't go to City, why aren't they bombarded with information and incentives to come? In any other industry they would be.

There was the Derby and Chelsea games in 19/20 season where they made the prices really attractive and the crowds were way up. As an absolute minimum starting point, why are we not doing that again as frequently as league regulations will allow?

Opportunity’s comes knocking rarely. Our time in the prem was a big big chance to gain and retain fans.
Sadly in the world we live in most live in a needy way re who they choose to support. Almost like a designer label.
They very least want a prem club. As has been stated on here before most Rugby fans have a football team and too often it’s not city.
Another few seasons could of broke the back of supporting other teams than City and was starting to happen with young kids.
Stan Ternant on Radio H said that if Bruce had stayed at City we would of been a mid table prem club. He put the blame on Ehab for the break up.
It was certainly the turning point in our time in the Prem.

Your concentrating on just the Allam years. The club have tried everything over the years and nothing has held the fans longer then a decent winning run. We we lose they don't come. I do think a cash turnstile open until 3.15 pm on a matchday would help.

The crowd was up to 24,000 for the Chelsea game from,11,000 against Fulham because of the prices? You really think so? Nothing to do with people wanting to rubberneck at PL stars? The week before the Fulham game we were away at Wednesday and there were more there than our Chelsea game. Wednesday prices were higher than ours and I don't think we were a massive draw.

I'm not so sure, but even if it has then it needs to be done again.
I first went due to free ticket from school (like class A drug dealing!) but there have been a few more generations since me and although it's occasionally been done there's a fair bit of space for a few free kids at the moment!
But whatever it is the club certainly need to try and create an environment where you think they actually want you to go. For a few years it has felt like going is an inconvenience to the club if you actually turn up.
I suggested loads of stuff recently, but whatever is done the point is they need to very obviously try to get people back, so that at the very least people feel like the club is trying to get them back!
