That's ok, you have your opinion..........in my eyes, they were half chances at best.....errors is what you call them......every team in every division must produce those sort of errors every game, chances that should be put away by Professional footballers.....technically I suppose that's true......it's a funny old game!!
Every team does, but I am interested only in BCFC and poor/missed chance, 2 schoolboy errors and piss poor game management cost us 2 points against Blackpool, another poor/missed chance and schoolboy error cost us a point against Middlesborough, a hatful of poor/missed chances cost us a win/draw against Swansea (in a game with similar dominance that Luton had). According to the stats we had 4 clear cut chances and converted 1 of them against Blackpool, in the Swansea game we also missed a clear cut chance. Poor decision making, poor game management, trying to be to clever in promising positions, not making most of our chances and poor individual errors are killing us. Also our crossing has been really good the trouble is they are all high balls and we don't have the striker to get on the end of those crosses, we need more low driven crosses and somebody who can penetrate the opponents area either by dribbling or by passing. On the plus side we have the emergence of Pring, Atkinson and Scott and the performances of Massengo are a revelation. Up until the Luton game we have more than held our own in midfield, we are averaging over 10 shots per game and over 3 shots on target per game which is improvement.
Think we need players to drive at teams, Palmer and Semenyo come to mind whom need to be encouraged when playing....I find us very predictable
Semenyo is regaining fitness but yes I agree, I expect him to start today. Palmer is the Jacki, Jet, Tomlin enigma for me, how many more chances do you give a player who influences one game in every 6?, he has a bad habit of losing the ball in dangerous areas by trying to be to clever. What would help IMHO is playing them centrally and not out wide in the number 10 role and in later stages if we are not losing with Semenyo perhaps remove a striker for a midfielder and push him up front to keep the opposing back line on their toes.
I've called Palmer a show pony because that's how I've seen him in the past. Another with amazing talent and I have a feeling (hope) we'll see him effect the game more in future as I believe Pearson will have him strip a lot fitter. Being fitter will stop mistakes like the 2 penalties away last season. It was due to the lack of oxygen getting to his brain, fitness might be the key to stop these kind of mistakes.
I agree, we have/had far too many players who play well and affect games once every 6 or so games and that is nowhere near consistent enough, we have shipped out a few but still have Palmer and ODowda who fit into that bracket, ODowda really owes us big time to become more consistent, he in particular seems to be able to either beat his marker but deliver a poor cross or not even beat his marker, he rarely does both, the last game he affected was QPR away last season.
