Tbf I pay my tax. My business doesn't make enough to pay VAT, but it means I can't claim the VAT back on any business expenses. I pay my NI too, voluntary contributions. But I don't have a private pension, so if there's any such thing as a State pension left by the time I reach retirement age, I'd like to be eligible !
Yeah done that. It's a meagre amount. But I can live on it. As long as it's increased alongside inflation. I don't reach retirement age for another 20 years yet !
I requested my state pension forecast several years back, because my stamp was all paid up, I thought it was quite reasonable for a state pension. It said I was in the higher band or something, whatever that means.
Sorry mate, you can't expect the state to accomodate a lifestyle that you might be accustomed to, so I'd look after the £3k bike if I was you, you might need a shopping basket on the front of it in 20 years time.
